We had another successful Construction Career Day last month. Over 400 students attended, with 44 exhibitors. We held it at the Jackman-Long building at the State Fairgrounds. Exhibitors had lots of room and the kids stayed in their ap-pointed areas, mostly. More lessons learned will be applied to next year’s event.

May is going to be an exciting month for the Salem Chapter. Some of us will be volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity Women Build Week. We will be assisting with the construc-tion of a house in Keizer. I am looking forward to getting my hands on some tools and learning some new skills. It should be fun!

Our May meeting will feature a presentation by one of our members. Linda Jaeger of Cravinho & Jaeger Financial Ser-vices will be presenting “ObamaCare vs. Trumpcare.” It should be interesting to see what changes will be coming up. Come see us on the 17th to find out!

I’m so glad the warmer weather is here and the sun is out. En-joy!

Construction Career Day

Our 2nd Year at the Fairgrounds turned out great. Being in the NAWIC Booth I felt the students were really engaged in the activities this year. It was great having students that were really interested in construction, asking pertinent questions.

It is my pleasure to invite you to NAWIC’s 62nd Annual Meeting and Education Conference, Aug. 16-19, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in Anaheim, Calif. Women representing almost every facet of the construction indus-try will gather for education, networking and fun! You will not want to miss one minute of this capstone event for the 2016-2017 NAWIC year.

Each event, seminar subject, speaker and workshop has been planned with you in mind. Aimee Cohen, the conference keynote speaker, will inspire and educate with “Woman Up! Overcome the Seven Deadly Sins that Sabotage Your Suc-cess.” She will help you understand necessary action steps to transform your life and career.

Professional development seminars are filled to the brim with relevant information—information that will equip you to accelerate growth in your career. Linda Swindling will lead the conversation with “Ask Outrageously! The Secret to Getting What You Really Want,” the key to making the difference between success and failure in the personal and pro-fessional lives of women. We will hear from other speakers such as Katie Snapp, who will provide insight on “The Trouble with the Curve” as you transition from one career path to another or climb the ladder within your company. Also, included in this great lineup is Holly Hoffman, former “Survivor” reality show participant, who will help us understand how to “Thrive to Survive” and become a better leader, as well as Barbara Khozam, who will explain “How to Deliver Extraordinary Cus-tomer Service”.

Construction industry seminar speakers will share trends and cutting-edge information that can be utilized in your office as an employee or business owner. This information and knowledge will set you apart from the competition.

Association workshops led by NAWIC officers and national committee chairs will share resources available to help you become a leader in the industry through NAWIC leadership opportunities. This NAWIC connection will help build a per-sonal brand and develop a broad network of women leaders to encourage and support as you grow in the industry. Net-working will be a consistent component of this conference. The NAWIC Trade Show, Welcome Party, Industry Luncheon, and Awards Gala will give attendees ample opportunity to build important relationships for their future.

Build your education by learning from top construction industry and professional development experts. Build your career through the valuable network of NAWIC members, sponsors, and industry leaders at AMEC 2017. Build your future by participating in NAWIC leadership opportunities.

You can’t afford to miss this conference!
