HOLIDAY UPDATES
The STD 8 pupils went for a life-skills and coaching seminar at Brackenhurst Retreat Centre during the April holiday. The pupils learnt how to conquer fear, set goals and important tips for success in life. This was a build-up seminar to reinforce previously learnt skills in personal development in school and from external facilitators . The camp facilitated by Super Camp Kenya focused on the 8 keys of excellence. The 8 Keys of Excellence will guide students towards a positive future full of confidence, motivation, creativity, teamwork, and leadership. Students will gain a sense of who they are and what they stand for, which is a key aspect of becoming a great leader. The 8 Keys of Excellence will serve as an internal compass that guide students towards excellence in their daily lives

ACADEMIC MEETINGS
We held departmental and level academic analysis meetings during the holiday. This is
a critical meeting in the Riara Group of schools
where teachers together with education special-
ists analyze and evaluate the performance of
every pupil/student. This helps us to properly
align our academic structures in readiness for
the next term. Through the forum, teachers are
able to formulate workable solutions for chal-
lenges faced during the teaching-learning pro-
cess. Teachers have been enriching the teaching
and learning process through exciting lessons
guided by the strategies and work plans that
were discussed in April.

ENHANCING MOBILE AND INTERNET SAFETY
As your children become more and more reliant on the Internet for both school work and entertainment, we must all, forge a partnership and be more aware of the need to monitor the sites our children visit. In school, through classroom activities and discussion, we highlight positive uses of technology, but also ways in which we can all keep safe through responsible use of the internet, our mobile phones and social media (e.g. WhatsApp, Facebook etc. ) At home you can ensure the security systems on your computers, tablets and mobiles are up to date and also, talk to your child about the dangers of accessing unfamiliar sites, movies, computer games, music or giving parents’ e-mail/Facebook/Twitter etc. details to strangers. The online and media safety of our children should come first!
Social media is not restricted to social networking sites like Instagram and Facebook. It also includes: movies,
computer games, online videos and music.
