MBALI
Mbali Mnyanzeli is a 7-year-old girl who was admitted to
Camphill School in November 2013.
Mbali is a day learner and lives with her mother in Zwehlile.
She was diagnosed at a young age with Autism. This has
affected her speech tremendously. She has been given the
opportunity to learn sign language since being admitted at
the school.
Sign language has opened up a whole new world for her
and she is able to communicate her immediate needs.
Mbali loves to sing, although she does not form real words, she makes them up as
she goes along. She is a happy, cheerful soul and loves smiling and chattering.
Mbali is delightfully playful and very active. She prefers her own company, always
humming while drawing or putting puzzles together. She has the ability to memorize
well so puzzle building and memory games has become something that she is very
good at.
Being in the kitchen is also one of her favourite pass times, possibly as she has a
healthy appetite. She loves to watch somebody cooking and then insists on helping to
clean up after.
Fortunately , Mbali has access to Occupational therapy, Speech therapy and Horse
Riding at the school which helps her considerably. She especially enjoys the horse
riding, smiling and chattering as she rides.
Sponsorship is crucial for Mbali to continue attending Camphill School where she
learns life skills and is helped to ultimate independence.
