MeasureIrradianceandTemperatureWirelesslywhenTestingPVInstallations �WirelesslycapturedatafromanirradiationsensorandathermocoupletoproperlyplottheI-Vcurveofsolarpanels�AnI-Vcurverepresentsthecurrentandvoltagecharacteristicsofaphotovoltaicstring,wherebyafaultypanelcanbedetectedbyobservingtheshapeofthecurve.ThebesttimetomeasurefortheI-Vcurveandcompareitagainstmanufacturerspecificationsiswhentheirradiancelevelandtemperatureisatstandardtestconditions(STC),butinpractice,thatisdifficult.Toaddressthisissue,thedatacapturedatthetimeofmeasurementcanbeconvertedtoSTCbyusingirradianceandtemperaturedatatoadjustthecurveandprovidemeaningfulresults.However,changesinirradianceandtemperatureduringanI-Vcurvemeasurementcaninfluencetheshapeofthecurve,andwhileoneI-Vcurvetracemaytakeonly1-2secondsperstring,capturingtheI-VcurveofcommercialorutilityscalePVsystemsconsistingof100sofpanelscanresultinlargeirradiationandtemperaturedifferencesbetweenthestartandendoftesting.Thisdoesnotincludethetimetomeasureindividualmoduleswhenissuesatthestringlevelaredetected.Toaidinpreventativeandperiodicmaintenance,aHiokiwirelessvoltageandtemperatureloggerandsolarsensorcanprovideacontinuouslogofthesetwocriticaldatapointstosupportaccurateI-VcurvetracinganytimebytransmittingthedatawirelesslytoyourmobiledeviceviaaBluetoothconnection.TheloggeddatacanbeusedtoeasilyconvertI-VcurvedatatoreflectSTCinordertoaccuratelyidentifyunder-performingpanels.■Highlights•  Recordtheoutputfromapyranometer*andathermocoupleusingtheWirelessVoltage/TempLoggerLR8515.Use
