What is E-Waste?

Anything that has a wire, a plug, a battery or runs on electricity, that you probably aren’t going to use ever again comprises of Electronic waste.

When old electronic items are thrown into a landfill, toxin chemicals such as mercury and cadmium can seep into the ground. For people living close to these landfills, it could mean permanent health damage to the nervous system, kidneys and it could even affect development of children.

Attero is a recycling company which recycles E-waste in an environment friendly way at their plant in Roorkee.

Here are some tips on E-waste :Lets try and reduce the amount of E-waste in our homes by buying what we need, and not all that we like.

Rather than throwing away your old mobile phones, you could give it to your didis and bhaiyas.

Do not throw your old non-working electronic items in the dustbin and don’t sell them to the local scrap-dealer.

If a lot of E-waste is generated in your parents’ offices, you could call up Attero and ask them to collect it.
