AN OVERVIEW

Part 1Gregor, a travelling salesman,

transformed into a monstrous vermin.

First he tried to lift up his body starting from lower part then he lifted upper part at last he succeeded after many attempts.

While struggling to lift up his body he thought of many things like his uneasy job and about his family's economic situation.

Here a note of 'stream of consciousness can be seen that how Geegor Samsa runs through it.

The manager of Gregor came to Samsa's house as he is not there at job.

Gregor then tried to open the door, he opened the door from his jaws as he is not having human like teeth.

Mrs. Samsa became unconscious as she took the first sight of her son

Manager ran from house as 'he had just burned the sole of his foot'.

Part 1 of novella ends in the

tyrannic attitude of Gregor's

father when he forced

Gregor to go back in his

room through a cane in

right hand and newspaper

in left hand.

PART 2Gregor is given food by his sister.

She gave him bread and fresh milk

it was the favorite food of Gregor

before his transformation.

Gregor's preferences have changed

as an insect. Now he likes rotten

foods instead of fresh eatables.

Gregor is now isolated and alienated

from family. He is 'imprisoned' in his

room. 'And now the keys were even

inserted on the outside'.

Family is so much disturbed which

can be seen in a situation that there is

no cook in house and not so much

cooking work as no one is eating too

much at this time.

Father then told about financial situation

of the family to Mrs. Samsa and Grete

Gregor now thinks about his sister to

whom he loves much. Grete is very fond

of violin playing and Gregor is having a

plan in his mind that he will announce

about the admission of his sister in

conservatory at Christmas Eve.

Gregor now became totally isolated

that when his sister comes to his

room for cleaning purpose or to

give food. He hides himself under

the couch to prevent his sister from

his sight.

He has totally adapted the habits of

an insect that he started crawling

on ceiling.

Gregor, most of the

time looked out of the

window to view the

world outside.

His sister notices it

only twice.

Grete decided to empty out Gregor's

room so that he can crawl easily.

When they started to bring all furniture

out of room. Gregor suddenly creep over

the picture which was in his room.

Hanging on the wall. In the second round

when Mrs. Samsa caught Gregor's sight

she screamed due to horrified scene of

her son.

Meanwhile Mr. Samsa came

home and attacked on

Gregor with apples.

This part ended in Gregor's

forceful return to his room.

PART 3Gregor tells about the situation in

which his father sleeps daily.

Samsas hired a new old aged char

woman. She is not afraid of Gregor yet

calls him a dung beetle.

Grete now gives food to him in a

worst way through a broom stick.

Gregor's room is now filled with dirt

and all unnecessary things of home.

working.

Now the family has given one

room of apartment to three

male boarders on rent as a

source of income.

Gregor's family is behaving

politely to boarders.

INITIAL SITUATION

Gregor wakes up one

morning and finds

himself turned into a

bug.

CONFLICT

Gregor is met with

horror and disgust

when he reveals his

new form to his family

and his supervisor.

COMPLICATION

Both Gregor and his family

attempt to accommodate

Gregor's new condition.

Gregor's family has no idea

how to treat this thing that

he's become.

CLIMAX

Moved by his sister's violin-playing, Gregor leaves his room in an effort to approach her. He exposes himself to the family's boarders, however, and chaos ensues.

SUSPENSE

After some

discussion, the family

agrees that they must

get rid of Gregor.

DENOUEMENT

Gregor dies. Poor Gregor.

On top of being a

loathsome insect, he has

to witness his family's

horror, poverty, and

humiliation.

CONCLUSION

Relieved by Gregor's death, the family takes the day off and goes out for a trip to the country. Mr. and Mrs. Samsanotice that Grete has become a marriageable young woman.

speaker from Czech’s people.

Isolated from creative reward.

He was treated as ‘others’.

He felt himself worthless

and useless.
