He continued playing junior tournaments and was ranked as high as 10th in the state of Maryland. He played a little basketball, along with tennis, at Walt Whitman High School where he graduated in 1985. Next stop was the University of Maryland where K.C. graduated in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Finance. Before jumping into the workforce, K.C. traveled across the country visiting Atlanta, Phoenix and Los Angeles. After six weeks of travel and resources dwindling, the decision was made to test the job market down south in Atlanta. K.C. and four friends moved to Atlanta in 1990. Initially, bartending and waiting tables paid the bills, but it also introduced K.C. to his future wife, Lisa. Lisa grew up in Connecticut, moved with her family to Atlanta in 1983 and attended Crestwood High School. K.C. and Lisa were married in 1995.
