Mexico 2018

• To give students the opportunity to experience God through service, worship, and community (family) away from home.

• Growth

• Focus

• Safe bubble for 248 hours.

• To give students a broader worldview by subjecting them to a second-world cultural experience.

• To give students a taste of mission work• The Great Commission (Matt. 18:19-20)

• To impact lives outside of our community.

• To consistently minister to the same villages annually.• 20+ years in Chihuahua.

• This year makes nine years in the San Diego village.

RETURN TRAVEL

Mexicali Basic Itinerary (It is highly likely that some of this will change…)

• 6:30 am: - Good Morning Cuernavaca!!!

• 7-7:45am - Breakfast

• 7:15am - Interpreters’ & Leaders’ Meetings

• 8:00-9:00am - Morning Chapel

• 9:30am - Teams gather to leave for villages

• 10am-12:30pm - VBS time (for some, play time for others)

• 12:30-1:30pm - Lunch and Siesta

• Mexico meetings on the scheduled Sundays are required for planning, prayer, and study.

• Spiritual preparation is expected, participate in two out of the four:

1. Sunday Worship Service2. Wednesday Night Youth Group3. Deeper Study Time at Sunday School4. Mexico Meetings count on the weeks that we have them (required)

• Daily time in prayer and reading the Bible is also expected!

• If this is too much for you to handle right now, let’s talk about this – we want to work with you!

• **These expectations are for students who have been at MVPC for a while,**

•OVERNIGHTER: Sunday, January 14 –Monday, January 15

• $Bring $20• Meet @ MVPC

• Sunday 4:30 pm –2:30 pm Monday

• Team building weekend• Learn your villages

• Bring 2 sets of warm clothes• Be ready for rain and snow

Meetings & Due Dates

•March 11th

• Auction preparation and event from 4:45-9:00 pm!

• You are expected to help at the auction!• Collect items and donate something yourself.• Set up and clean up.

• Bring $5 for dinner (4:45 -5:15)

• Minor VBS planning.

Meetings & Due Dates

•SATURDAY, March 31st

• 9:30 am – Noon

• Wrap up and final

preparations meeting.

• $120 due, plus any extra money still owed.

• Bring your sleepingbag and mat, packedand ready to load!

• Fly with MVPC to and from SD: $780 ($860 w/o sermon notes)

• Van down, fly home w/MVCP: $730 ($810 w/o sermon notes)

• Fly on own to SD, with MVPC home: $600 ($680 w/o sermon notes)

• Book own flights both directions: $370 ($450 w/o sermon notes)

• Sending letters to close family and friends that ask them to pray for you and support you financially on this trip (see example in info packet).• To be sent out by

• Youth Missions Auction on March 11th.• Must attend and help

• 1 by recruitment

• Prayer and Study of God’s Word!!!• Get devotions If needed from Nick, Lindsey or Alison

• Wednesday, Sunday school, church, Mexico meetings –REQUIRED for regular MVPC youth students! (Attend 2 of 4 weekly (weeks of Mexico Meetings are required to attend)

• Make all Sunday Mexico Preparation meetings!

• Participate aggressively in fundraising!

• Be positive and have a good attitude!

• Have a consistent team player attitude!

• Be willing to work with and get to know all the diversity within our group.

• To earn an extra discount for your personal cost of the trip you have the following option:• Turning in one set of sermon notes (outlines with your own

personal notes, not just fill-in-the-blanks) will earn you ten dollars off.

• This may be done up to eight times for up to $80 off.

• Turn into the Mexico Box in the work room upstairs WITH YOUR NAME ON YOUR NOTES!
