LANEWAY 2.0: THE ART OF LIVING

A building design for a work-live space for studio artists that allows one to not only flourish artistically but also maintain their well-being through a series of easily accessible social spaces. The project emphasizes the importance of collabo-ration in the creative process. In addition to five individual units, the building also includes a collaborative studio space, three shared terraces, and a public courtyard and gallery.

The model was constructed by hand at a 1⁄8”:1’-0” scale primarily out of balsa wood, basswood, paper and plywood (base).

The plans and sections were drawned on AutoCAD while the renderings were done with a combination of hand drafting and Photoshop.

BETWEEN THE PLANES

A project in which one was to inter-pret two given lineweight-less plans through a three-dimensional struc-ture. The importance of the dyna-mism of circulation and sunlight was emphasized.

I chose to create a space in which amibiguity was a major factor in the overall experience through the use of obstructions and numerous tran-sitional thresholds.

BUSY BEE PARK

The flora chosen for this particular park design are all perennial grasses and flowering plants native to British Columbia. It is an attempt to have the public understand and appreciate their visual aes-thetic.

The model was mainly constructed by hand out of balsa wood, cardboard, and dried flora.

THE DUNES

Hand drawings of a park designed for Spanish Banks. The form of the play structures were inspired by tidal and wind erosion.

Wire lattice tumbleweeds are strewn throughout and move with the direction of the wind and cre-ate intricate patterns on the sand.

INTERPRETING THE HUMAN HEART

An abstract interpretation of the human heart inspired by the organ’s various valves and chambers. It was modelled on Rhino and outputted through lasercutting.
