THE GOAL OF THIS LESSON IS FOR STUDENTS TO LEARN TO FORMAT THE PRESENTATION FOR IMPACT.
STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO MODIFY SLIDES, FORMAT TEXT, MODIFY OBJECTS, AND PROPERLY PROOF THE
PRESENTATION.

Learning Objectives
Introduction
When preparing to create an appropriate presentation, it is important to know the audience. It is necessary to maintain a professional presentation while incorporating formatting and objects to add interest.
It is also important to proof the presentation for errors in grammar and spelling.
Selecting And Deselecting Objects
In PowerPoint, almost everything is an object that can be moved, resized, sometimes rotated
and transformed with color, shadow or shading. The content of the presentation is the most important aspect and should be focused
on during creation
Selecting And Deselecting Objects
An object cannot be manipulated until it is selected.
To select various objects, simply click on them. When you see the sizing handles on the objects outer border, you will know that you have selected the object.
The circles that appear around the object are called resize handles. Click and drag the circles to resize the object.

If you wish to edit the inside of an object, select the object first. Next, you select “Edit Text” in order to edit the text inside of the object.
You may also, select the object. On the Drawing Tools toolbar, select the “Text Box” icon. This will allow you to add text to any object.
You may also use the Drawing tools toolbar to edit the object such as its color, outline and effects
Adding Text To Slides
Additional text objects can be added to a slide at any time.
By using the Insert, Text Box command from the ribbon; you will be allowed to add a text label to a slide
You may also use manipulate a text box using the commands on the Drawing Tools
Adjusting Text Objects
Word wrapping and object sizing will allow the user to maintain a neat appearance on the slide Resizing a text object will allow for larger items like
clip art to be placed inside of the object Right click on the object and select “Format Shape” to
change the settings of the object
Formatting Text
The default font setting on any slide can be changed by the user.
You may change such things as font type, color and effect
Changing Text Alignment And Spacing
Text alignment and spacing within a placeholder can be changed to enhance the appearance of the slide
Line spacing is the amount of added vertical spacing between lines of type
Paragraph spacing is spacing above and below paragraphs
Moving A Text Object
Moving a text object might make slides more a appealing
To move an object, you must first select the object. Then you drag the object to the desire location and drop it.
You may also “nudge” an object into a location. This requires use of the arrow keys to move the object slightly.
Find And Replacing Text And Fonts
The Find and Replace option searches for a specific word or phrase throughout the presentation, then replaces all occurrences of the word or phrase without having to navigate each individual slide in the presentation.
Selecting the whole word option in the Find dialog box will allow PowerPoint to show only results that include the entire word.

Open up the Find Dialog Box and type in the word or phrase that you wish to find.
PowerPoint will search for the word, and then highlight the first occurrence of the word
Correcting Text While Typing
The AutoCorrect option used in the PowerPoint will automatically correct common spelling errors.
The AutoFit option in PowerPoint will automatically resize text to fit in a placeholder.

Spell Checking will correct only words that appear in the standard dictionary

You can save time by using smart tags
When PowerPoint recognizes types of data, it marks the data with a smart tag indicator. To find out what actions you can take with a smart tag, move the insertion point over the underlined text until the Smart Tag Actions button appears. You can then click the button to see a list of actions you can take.

A very important part of creating a presentation is to make sure that the information in the presentation conveys the correct message
Use the Thesaurus to replace words in a presentation
