    MINE Project Director The Myanmar/Burma Indigenous Network for Education (MINE), is currently made up of 24 education organizations representing 12 Indigenous groups living in remote, often conflict affected areas across Myanmar. MINE has two main roles: 1. To support the provision of locally informed and owned quality education services in Indigenous communities. 2. To advocate for improved access to and quality of relevant basic education for Indigenous children. MINEs current project activities include pre-service, in service and mobile teacher training, parent education/awareness, and school management capacity building and reach 1621 schools, 5549 teachers, 135237 students and approximately 48000 parents. MINE will soon start a new initiative to bring over 82000 out-of-school children into school. Position Description: The Project Director will take an active role in driving MINEs growth to serve more teachers, students, and communities throughout the Network. The Project Director will lead the strategic direction and all project activities in collaboration with MINE partner organizations and the management team. The Project Director will be responsible for leading a team of over staff. The Director reports to the MINE Board and Project Co-Director. The position is based in Pyin Oo Lwin but will require frequent travel throughout Burma. Responsibilities: Oversight and Management:

    Assume ultimate responsibility for the success of the project Oversee all project activities and ensure implementation according to donor requirements and organizational policies and procedures Directly oversee the work of the Head of Policy and Advocacy, Project Coordinator, and Head of Operations Oversee recruitment of staff and the development of systems, policies, and procedures

    Networking and Advocacy:

    Network, promote, and represent MINE in a range of forums. Lead the development of, and implementation of MINEs advocacy strategy

    Leadership:

    Lead MINEs organizational development

  • Establish and maintain a strong and collaborative MINE team dedicated to MINEs mission. Ensure all program activities are sensitive to and responsive to changes in the political, social,

    and economic environments. Qualifications and Experience:

    Masters Degree in education, development, or a related field preferred. Minimum 5 years experience working with non-governmental and community-based organizations Proven success directing and working flexibly, respectfully, and empathetically with a diverse range of people Demonstrated ability to lead a large team across multiple projects Adaptability to changing contexts Strong interpersonal skills Ability to plan, prioritize, and work on various assignments simultaneously Ability to work independently and collaboratively Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including fluency in English and Myanmar required.
