Starting Point for MoRENetStarting Point for MoRENet• High connectivity costs (leased lines, VSAT, ...)• Lack of common communication platform for the
research and higher education institutions• Inadequate collaboration and knowledge exchange
between academic institutions, research stations and private sector
• Universities or research institutions have no access to international knowledge resources and academic networks
• Inadequate institutional mechanisms and platforms for supporting development of common services and infrastructures
• Universities and research institutions are investing in IT without common standards and definition of shared platforms and services
• National backbone is not open for unrestricted competition and pricing of connectivity remains at no-sustainable levels
