Client is a visionary company which offers a comprehensive portfolio of energy related products to approximately 3.3 million Electricity customers and 1.8 million Natural Gas customers
Client is serving customers in Eight states across the United States Current Electricity grid model has not changed much in the past century With growing needs of customers the current grid model will become unreliable in the
future Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 identifies Smart Grid as the future
direction for Electricity Grids in the United States of America Smart Grid – Modernization of the Electricity Grid to improve reliability and efficiency Advantages of Smart Grid implementation
Adding more clean and green power sources in our fuel mix—greatly improving power delivery and reliability while optimizing environmental benefits.
A grid that allows more choice about when, how much and what kind of energy consumers use.
A digitally enhanced, more resilient and stable energy grid that is less prone to outages and improves power reliability.
More energy efficiency and conservation options to manage consumers energy dollars.

Challenges
Smart Grid Project Build a flexible, reliable, Service oriented and highly available Architecture to support
full scale smart Grid implementation across the enterprise Enable standards based secured XML and web services transactions between Client
and its Smart Grid partners Support SOA Architecture by providing ability for centralized governance, security
policy management and implementing Web services security standards such as WS-Security and WS-SecurityPolicy.
Implement standards based interfaces and enable message level security. Uncompromised performance because of added security measures

Challenges
Web-based Account Management Project Build a self service account management portal for its Customer and Partners Enable standards based secured, trusted, multiparty XML and web services business
transactions between utility and its customers and business partners Provide SOA based Platform to integrate utility back office applications with Partner
applications Protect confidential data and utility systems from threats including e-vandalism, data
theft, and intentional or unintentional denial of service attacks Implement standards based interfaces and enable message level security. Uncompromised performance because of added security measures

Miracle’s Solution
Smart Grid Project WebSphere DataPower XI50 ESB gateway as a DMZ solution along with the IBM WebSphere
Message Broker, IBM WebSphere Process Server, IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM WebSphere Service Registry & Repository and IBM WebSphere MQ as an integration hub for SOA enablement
Web-based Account Management Project WebSphere DataPower XI50 ESB gateway as a DMZ solution along with Partner provided UI for
the web portal and IBM WebSphere Business Integrator, IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM WebSphere Service Registry & Repository as an integration hub for SOA enablement
WebSphere DataPower XI50 Solution Both the projects use WebSphere DataPower XI50 security appliance to centralize access to, and
accelerate the various SOA interfaces with partners Out of the box, the DataPower XI50 appliance addresses a wide variety of SOA transport threats
that can be introduced either by error or malice DataPower XI50 appliance is configured to apply rigid policy constraints on both published and
consumed services The appliance provides the ability to terminate transport (SSL) and individual attribute level
encryption elements, Centralized governance, security policy management, Service level monitoring and management and advanced auditing and logging features
The appliance acts as an ESB Gateway and provides Transformation, Routing, Protocol and Format bridging capabilities
