Teresa’s Tidbits Mothers~thereareallkinds.Theydonothavetobeabirthmother,butawomanwhohasanopenheartandisabletocareforandnurturechildreninsuchawaythattheyfeelsafe,secureandlovedandallowsthemspacetogrowintoahumanbeing….amongthemostimportantonesarethosethattakecareofthechildrenintheschools.OnMay10th,wecelebrateMothers.Whatanimportantpartweplay,notonlyinthelivesofchildren,butothersaswell.Fromputtinganicepackonabumporabandaidonascrape.Sometimesitcanbeveryoverwhelming,butthejoythatcomesissorewarding.GiveahugtothatspecialMOTHERinyourlifeandtellherhowmuchyouappreciateallshedoes.

ILOVEYOUMOM,HappyMother’sDay!Aswewinddowntotheendoftheschoolyear,thereisone inalGAEOPeventofthisschoolyear,theannualGAEOPProfessionalDevelopmentday.ThisyearitwillbeheldatOlympusHigh.ThestaffatOlympushasbeengreattoworkwithandtheGAEOPProfessionalDevelopmentDayCommitteehasplannedaspectacular,fun illedandveryeducationalday.MarkyourcalendarforJune10th,youwon’twanttomissoutonyourchancetowalkthe“REDCARPET”~blingisnotrequired:)RegistrationendedonApril30th,butifyou indyourscheduleopenedup,wewouldloveforyoutoattend,soregistrationwillbeopenthroughMay6thThisdayisforallof iceprofessionals,contractandparttime.Seepage4forregistrationinformation.AutorenewalornewGAEOPmembershipisalsobeingofferedaspartoftheregistrationprocess.Thiswillhelpustrackmembershipmoreaccurately.Aone‐time$15.00deductionwillbeprocessedontheAugust15thorSeptember15thpaycheck.Also,GAEOPwillbeconductingaclothingdriveduringProfessionalDevelopmentDay.Seepage3formoreinformationabouthowyoucanhelpwiththisproject.Innextmonth’sissueof“TheLINK”youwillindalistofallthethingsyoucanlookforwardtoonJune10th.Ihopetoseeyouallthere.

CrisBrimleyhasworkedatChurchillJr.Highforalmost25years.ShestartedintheCarpenterShopandworkedthereforoneyearbeforegoingtoChurchill.Sheenjoyseveryonesheworkswith,theyhavealotoffunandlaughs!Sheenjoysspendingtimewithfriendsandfamily,makingcrafts,sur ingPinterest,workinginheryardandanythingthathastodowithorganization.

ShawnaCluffhasworkedatChurchillfor5years.Sheisthe inancialsecretary.ShelovesworkingwitheveryoneatChurchillJuniorHigh.CrisissogladtohaveheratChurchill,suchaHUGEhelp.Shawnasaysshe’sbeenveryluckyinworkingatschoolswhereshehasalwaysenjoyedthosesheworkswith.Shehas1daughterwhoisasophomoreatOlympusHighSchool.

DebbieDespainhasbeentheRegistraratChurchillfor20yearsandenjoysthedailyinteractionwiththestudents.Shelovestocrossstitchandgarden.Shelovesherdogandshehastwochildrenwhoare13yearsapart.

ShirleeCarrollistheattendancetrackerandhasbeenatChurchillfor12years.Shelovesspendingtimewithherhusbandand2kids.Shelovestheoutdoors,sports,music,reading,math(cuckoo)andworkingatChurchill.Youwillnever indabiggerBarryManilowfanthanShirlee!SheistheultimateFanilow.

ConsuelaReynosohasworkedatChurchillforalmost2yearsastheComprehensiveGuidanceClerkandshereallyenjoysworkingwithalltheawesomepeopleatChurchill.Inhersparetime,sheenjoysscrapbooking.

Iwasaskedtowriteon“Change”.Howdoyouembracechangeinyourof ice?Doyouresistchangeorareyouoneofthosewhowillworktodevelopnewwaysforyourof iceorschooltorunsmoother?IhaveworkedinGraniteSchoolDistrictfor23yearsandhaveworkedwithsixPrincipalsduringthattime.EachPrincipalhastheirownideasandfeelingsonhowtheschoolshouldoperate...soIhaveseenchange.Iamonethatchoosestoacceptchange,eventhoughitcanbedif icult.

Inouroccupationweareconstantlydealingwithchange.Ourjobdescriptionchangesdaytodaywithnewcomputerprogramstolearn,newformsto illout,newresponsibilities,newPrincipals,newteachers,andnewstudentsenrollinginyourschools.Wearesurroundedbychange!So,Ihopeyouwillembracethesechangeswithanopenheart,itmaykeepthosefriendlymeninthecleanwhitescoatsaway.

Nothingisbetterthanrememberingadearfriendwhenyoucomeacrossarecipetheysharedwithyou.ThismonthourthoughtsareofVickieBurrow,formerDirector’sSecretaryattheGraniteEducationFoundation,VickiewasalwaysupforagoodcelebrationandCincodeMayowasnoexception.Thisstewcouldbemadeaheadoftimeandwarmed‐upforasatisfyingmeal.Addsomechipsandsalsaand/orguacamoleandyou’llhaveeveryonecheering“Ole!”.I’msureyou’llagreewithmethatweallstillloveandmissVickie.MexicanChickenStew1TBL.oliveoil½c.greenonion,chopped1lb.chicken,cubed14oz.chickenbroth4oz.greenchilies,chopped1½tsp.oregano1tsp.chilipowder½tsp.salt1½tsp.cumin15oz.redkidneybeans,rinsedanddrained16oz.cancorn,drainedSauteonioninoil;addchickenandbrown.Addallotheringredientsinalargepotandbringtoboil.Simmerfor10minutes,thenaddchickenandonionmixture.Simmerforanadditional10minutes.Sprinklecheeseandsourcreamontopandserve.

FileAsYouGoOneofthebiggestof iceoffendersispilesofpaper‐‐onyourdesk,onyourshelves,andeventuallyonyour loor.It'seasytogetbusyandstartstackingpapersto ileforlater,butbeforeyouknowit,youhaveataskthat'stoobigtotackle.Thekeyistoprocesspapersasyougo.Setupasystemoftraysor ilefoldersthatareclearlylabeledandmakeitahabittousethem.Thesamegoesforyourcomputerdesktop.

CleanYourElectronicsHeyyou,withthefoodspatteredmonitorandkeyboardfullofcrumbs.Weknowthatyoueatatyourdesksoyoucanworkthroughlunch.Anditcertainlyimpressesyourboss,butyourco‐workersareprobablysnickeringabouttheweek‐oldstroganoffstains.Fortunately,it'sasimple ix.Headtoyourlocalof icesupplystore,pickupsomewipesthatarespeci icallymadeforelectronics,andmakeitapointtowipedownyourkeyboardandmonitordaily.Notonlywillitkeepdustanddebrisfromgummingupyourcomputer,butitalsohelpskeepgermsatbay.

DeclutterYourDeskIfyou'relikemanypeople,yourdeskprobablyactsasthekitchentableforyourof ice.It'stheplacewhereeverythinggetsdropped,andprettysoonyouhavetodigtogettoyourcomputer.Acleandeskwillguaranteemoreproductivity,butyou'realreadysobusytryingtobeproductive,whohastimetostopandclean?Thekeyistoscheduleitdaily,andtreatitlikeit'sameetingyoucan'tmiss.Ithelpsifyouminimizethetrinketsandpictureframesandonlykeepworkessentialson,inandaroundyourdesk.

AssignaPlaceforEverythingThekeytomakingcleaningyourof iceeasyistoputeverythinginitsrightfulplace.So,thismeansthatyouneedtoassignaplaceforeverythingandlabelitclearlysoyoucan inditinapinch.Onceyougetinahabitofputtingthingsaway,declutteringbecomesaquicktaskthat'ssecondnature.Thisalsomeansnot illingupeverysingleinchofstorage.Newitemswillcomeintoplayandneedaplacetolive,sokeepafewemptyshelvesordrawerstomakeroomforthenew.

GetRidofJunkThemagnetbusinesscards,thecolorfularrayofcheappens,thecoffeecups,thecalendars‐‐allfreebiesthatyoujustcouldn'tsaynoto.Now,they'restrewnalloveryourdesk.Itmayseemlikestuffthat'suseful,butreallyit'sjuststuffthatcluttersupyourspaceandmakesyoufeelguiltyforthrowingitaway.Weknowit'shardtoresistfreeswag,butlearntojustsay"no."
