Missions MobilizationPerspectives and Principles

Jesus’ Mobilization Prayer

Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His

harvest. Matthew 9:38 (NKJV)

God is the original sender…

the only “un-sent sender”

What role did Jesus and the Holy Spirit have in your mobilization into

missions?

What role did an influential person play in

your mobilization into missions?

Mobilization Call - Isaiah 58

“Shout it aloud, do not hold back.

Raise your voice like a trumpet.

Declare to my people their rebellion

and to the descendants of Jacob their sins.

What is your perspective on Mobilization?

Mobilization!Mobilization is the process of envisioning

and educating God's people about His strategic plans for the world, and it is the

means of keeping them involved and moving forward until they find their specific

place and role in world evangelization.

Your PerspectiveWhy is Mobilization

important?

• Reaching Individuals• Starting Movements to Jesus• Transforming Nations

Nation?

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people

belonging to God”-1 Peter 2:9

It takes a “nation” to disciple a “nation”

The Whole Church bringing the Whole Gospel to the Whole

World…

Jesus’ Mobilization Prayer

Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His

harvest. Matthew 9:38 (NKJV)

Mobilizers!

Mobilizers inspire, mentor and connect individuals to strategic opportunities to live and work within God’s global purpose.

Mobilizers!

Mobilizers stir other Christians to active concern for reaching the world. They

coordinate efforts between senders, the local churches, sending agencies, and

missionaries on the field. Mobilizers are essential.

Mobilizers!Mobilizers are those who channel key

resources, training, and vision for world evangelization to the Body of Christ. It has

been said, that to improperly appreciate and support the role of the mobilizer is to

seriously hinder the functions of the goer, sender, and welcomer.

The Whole Church! In the twenty-first century, it is important to realize that the responsibility for reaching Muslims, Hindus

and Buddhists is too large for the missionary enterprise. While missionaries will always be at the forefront of innovative strategies, the whole Church needs to participate in inviting people of other faiths

to consider Jesus Christ. - Todd Johnson

Majority World Mobilization

God is transforming the “mission field" into the

“mission force”

CSGC Report

"of the ten countries sending the most missionaries in 2010…

three were in the global South: Brazil, South Korea, and India."

Student Volunteer Movement

The SVM mobilized approximately

20,000 missionaries to the

field and 80,000 supporters

Mott and SpeerProbably no two people in

history are traceably responsible for more

missionaries going to the field than John R. Mott and

Robert E. Speer

Why Are Mission Mobilizers Crucial?Local Churches Need Skilled Heart TransplantsA mission mobilizer owes it to the church and the nations to acquire the skill and knowledge necessary to help do an effective heart transplant of vision and understanding.

Why Are Mission Mobilizers Crucial?

Romans 10:15 asks this question:

“…And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?”

Why Are Mission Mobilizers Crucial?

More go’ers (preachers) requires more senders

Mobilizers envision, equip and connect both the go’ers (preachers) and the

senders

Prioritizing the Unreached“All men are equally lost but not all men are equally needy” - Dr Ralph

WinterTriage = evaluate and prioritize where

the need is greatest

Fewer Mobilizers = Fewer Missionaries

But there would be few missionaries unless there were also intensely

committed and skilled mobilizers.

Love vs. JudgementLove is the central command in Scripture and judgment

the central prohibition. Indeed, judgment is the “original sin” in Scripture.

This is why the forbidden tree in the center of the garden…was called the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good

and Evil”.― Gregory A. Boyd, Repenting of Religion

Love vs. JudgmentOur fundamental sin is that we place ourselves in the position of God and divide the world between what we

judge to be good and what we judge to be evil. And this judgment is the primary thing that keeps us from doing

the central thing God created and saved us to do, namely, love like he loves.

― Gregory A. Boyd, Repenting of Religion

You Could Be Right…

It might be true that the community you are trying to mobilize is selfish and lazy…

but mobilizing with judgment will not bring life!

What does it look like to mobilize from the Tree of Life?

Can You Really Love Jesus and Hate the Church?

The Bride of Christ

Jesus loves His Bride!

The Bride of Christ

His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should

be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.

(Ephesians 3:7-12)

Jesus please help us see your Bride from your

perspective!

What does it look like to mobilize from the Tree of Life?

Community Development Principles

7) Meet real needs through felt needs.

What are ‘felt needs’?

A felt need is simply that – something in any area of my life that I perceive as a need.

Community Development Principles

8) Work through the man of peace

Man of Peace PrincipleWhen you enter a house, first say, `Peace to this house.’ If a man of peace is there, your peace will rest on him; if not, it will return to you. Stay in that house, eating and drinking

whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from

house to house. - Luke 10:5-6

9) Start Small… Build Slow10) Create Ownership
