The Banking Industry Architecture Network`s (short: BIAN, www.bian.org) mission is to
achieving the vision of a flexible architecture which is closely aligned with business objectives
of increased agility and reduced cost by asking leading banks to share their requirements for
core services and leading software and services vendors to implement these services based
on formally defined semantics. It brings together banks, vendors of banking applications and
service providers in a community to achieve synergies by collaborating on a consensus
understanding of the requirements for ‘banking enterprise services’ within a SOA framework
and the formal description of a banking services landscape.
The Competence Center «Sourcing in the Financial Services Industry (short: CC
Sourcing, www.ccsourcing.org) is an interdisciplinary research project from the Universities
of Leipzig in Germany and St. Gallen in Switzerland. Together with an average number of 16
partner companies from all stages of the banking value chain (banks, software vendors,
business process outsourcing providers etc., CC Sourcing develops future models for the
banking industry for more than 11 years. Among the examples are models for financial
networks, banking process models and banking innovations.

Charter:
The financial industry network / ecosystem consists of parties participating in various roles
by providing role-specific financial products and services (value proposition). External pressure
forces traditional financial institutions to break up their value chain and new players provide
traditional and new financial products and services. Some financial value propositions might
even be delivered without intermediaries. This means, that traditional financial institutions are in
transformation and face significant change in the environment they are doing business. In order to
cope with this change and steer the transformation a solid basis for reasoning is
necessary. The scope of the working group is to establish such models
