In 346 AD, a Christian philosopher named Meropius, from Tyre, Rome embarked on a voyage of explorationalong the coast of Africa. He was accompanied by, two Greeks, Frumentius and his brother Aedesius. The vessel was stranded on the coast, and the natives killed all the travelers except the two brothers, who were taken to the court and givenpositions of trust by the monarch. They both practiced the Christian faith in private, and soon converted the queen of Ethiopia andseveral other members of the royal court.

What other traits do Kenya’s different ethnic groups have in common?-They value the land and their families, some groups share the same language, most are either Muslim or Christian.

What do many Kenyans who live in the city plan to do with the money they earn? many plan to buy land in the countryside.

How have Kenya’s government and Kenya’s village women used harambee to help benefit village families? the government pays for part of each child’s education, women’s self help groups work together to deal with problems in their communities.
