LO: Explore how vocabulary can tell us about different cultures

What does culture mean?

The ideas, beliefs, celebrations, social choices, behaviors and ways of life of a particular group of people.

Which cultures do these pictures

represent?

Steps to Success I can:

Listen carefully to an unfamiliar poem.

Think about the style and language of the poem and what this might tell me.

Identify new vocabulary and explore its meaning to help me understand the poem.

Granny is (Valerie Bloom)

Do Grannies all over the world do this? How is she different?

How is she the same as other Grannies? How might this make her feel?

How might she look? How might she smell?

What might it tell you about the culture?
