Historical Myth:Mopin is an agriculture related festival of Arunachal Pradesh & it is confined to the individuals who belong to Galo community.The primary objective that lies behind this spectacular is to drive away evil spirits who bring bad luck with them and pose a lot of obstacle.

RitualsDuring the Mopin Festival,the Galos smear rice powder in each other faces. It marks the beginning of the festival.Mithun is a very auspicious animal and used in animal sacrifice ritual.

Popir DanceThe main attraction of the festival is Popir dance.The dance is performed by young girls. They dance on their best traditional costumes and adorn themselves with multi-colored beaded ornaments.

CelebrationWomen of the Galo community serve wine made from rice named Apong. They also serve different types of meals (Aamin) which are prepared using rice. Meat and bamboo shoot is also served.
