Principal’s Message – Yaama! Project Based Professional Learning I am pleased to report that our trip to Sydney as part of a Connected Communities professional learning initiative was a great success. We joined with our 15 Connected Community school colleagues to learn together about Project Based learning. Our MEPS team, Mrs Henley, Mr Raymond and Miss McDonnell and myself began the planning process to focus on a project to build enthusiasm and lively discussion in learning , as staff and students develop mini ‘ real life’ projects. Mrs Jane Humphries will also be leading our teachers with this project. We look forward to sharing this learning journey with parents and community, beginning Term 2 as we are all a community of learners. Celebrations: We have some fantastic writers at our school. Please take a moment to read some of their stories on display in our front office area. Their work showcases their effort and learning as real authors. Congratulations to all of our teachers, support staff and students. It was wonderful to be able to invite Mrs Robyn Stewart, Principal Inverell PS to our school today. After a tour of our school and visiting classes during learning time, Mrs Stewart commented that she was very impressed with the commitment to learning of students, enthusiasm for teaching by staff and the warm, learning focused feel to our school. I look forward to building strong relationships with the schools in our Barwon network as we learn together. Thank you to our parents/carers: Thank you for a great start to the year. Term 1 has proven very busy and yet, productive. I am grateful to the parent community for your support of our school and interest in your child’s/children’s education. More students are coming to school on time and ready to learn; they are proudly wearing their full school uniform and there have been many offers of support from parents. I am proud to be part of the Moree East Public School community and look forward to continuing to work closely with you. Quote for the week: “If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence..”

Tell Them From Me student feedback survey (Term 1, 2017)
I am delighted that this term, our school, like many other public schools in the state, will par cipate in a Department of Educa on
ini a ve: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. The survey measures factors that are known to affect academic achieve‐
ment and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW‐wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effec ve teaching
prac ces.
More informa on about the survey is available at: h p://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school
life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Schools in Australia and around the
world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help improve how they do things at school.
I want to assure you that the survey is confiden al. The survey is conducted online and will typically take less than 30 minutes to
complete. It will be administered during school hours between 13 March and 7 April. Par cipa ng in the survey is en rely voluntary.
The first survey is for students in Years 4‐6. A consent form and FAQs for parents/carers has been provided to parents. Later in the year there will be other Tell Them From Me surveys conducted within the school. Parents will be no fied when these are occurring and if you do not want your child or children to par cipate we will provide you with a form to complete and return to the school. Copies of the form and FAQs are available from: h p://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/informa on‐for‐parents.
