Motivation
Europe is a cornerstone of GEO, along with US etc. Europe has made a commitment to the objectives of
GEO. Its involvement should both contribute to the success
of GEO and result in substantial European benefit from GEOSS.
Europe intends to provide a strong and sustained European component as part of GEOSS. Identification of strengths, gaps and opportunities European actions for the 2011-2015 timeframe Enhancement of European visibility at GEO level
Objectives and expected outcome
Contribute to a coherent European position and strategy proposing a structured approach for selected SBAs special attention to 2010 GEO Ministerial Summit in Beijing providing input/source material for the discussion within the
HLWG
Strengthen collaboration of European EO programmes and organisations towards GEO significant national activities also addressed important role of GMES
Contribute to the establishment of strong European GEOSS component by 2015
