Mr. Zinsmeyer’s Social Studies and Singapore Math Corner

In Social Studies, we will continue with learning the states and capitals and have our next test on Thursday (9-12-13) over any 40 states. For Singapore Math, we will be continuing learning the problem solving process. Please have students review multiplication facts every night. We will have a math vocabulary test on Friday (9-13-13) over the first 16 words in the packet.

We will be begin our study of Physical Science by reviewing the properties of matter. This week we will be concentrating on magnetism, the three states of matter, properties of water and relative density.

Relative Density

Objects that are more dense sink in water; less dense objects float in water

We will be focusing on our comprehension strategies like summarizing and using prefixes and write a short story using dialogue. We have a Reading Unit Test on Friday the 13th.

READ NIGHTLY! Students need to be reading at least 20 minutes per night. We are taking the AR STAR Test this week, so be expecting individual goals to be set hopefully by the end of the week.
