Principal’s Report It has been delightful to reflect on the many events of Term 3. The variety of events included our Open Day, NAIDOC celebrations, Excursion, Athletics & Swimming carnival, Book Week Parade and appearances in the local newspaper too. We have enjoyed having our many family members spending time at our school. Our school website has captured many of the fun moments of the terms events. With the school holidays upon us, I wish all of our students and families an enjoyable and safe time together. I look forward to seeing everyone return safe and well on Tuesday 6th October.
Ms Colleen Potter Principal Swimming Scheme I am so proud of our Toongabbie East students. Over the past two weeks, all students were prepared every day to dive in their swimming lessons. Each one has progressed in their swimming ability, some even moving up groups during the two weeks. The children enjoyed their time with the instructors and the daily bus ride to the pool. We will invite our families to a presentation assembly in Term 4. Musical Instruments Our school has been awarded a grant from the Arts Unit of the Department of Education. We have received a variety of wind and percussion instruments. Mrs Giorelando is a trained music teacher and recently attained her skills as a music conductor. Led by Mrs Giorelando, our school will work with other schools, music teachers and school bands in the near future. We already have the opportunity for Years 5 and 6 students to be involved in a drumming workshop with high school students and our school has been invited to attend a School Band performance at Baulkham Hills High School in Term 4.
Dance2Bfit – Term 4 Each class will begin weekly dance‐fit lessons in Term 4. This activity is part of our physical education curriculum. Lessons will be every Monday.

Responsible Pet Program – Term 4 K‐2 students will attend an information session about responsible pet ownership delivered by the NSW Local Government. Students will learn about dog safety. Further information will be provided to families next term. School Uniform At Toongabbie East PS we do not ask for a voluntary school donation, instead we would prefer to see our students in their full school uniform every day. Thank you to all families who ensure that their child arrives at school in the correct school uniform.
PHOTO DAY Photo Day Friday 9th October – Summer Uniform required
Family photos before 9am – envelopes are available from the office for orders
The Premiers Sporting Challenge The Premiers Sporting Challenge has now been completed through our sport lessons. Congratulations to all Toongabbie East PS students!! High School in 2016 Year 6 students need to be enrolled at their high school. Our local high school is Pendle Hill High School. Parents and carers will need to speak with the high school to confirm their child’s enrolment. High school transition days will be in Term 4. Transition days provide our Year 6 students with the information they will need to begin school in their new environments. Pendle Hill High School can be contacted on Phone: 9631 9651 Woolworths Earn & Learn Promotion
Thank you for your generous donations of stickers to our school. Bada and Suni have been working hard to organise them onto the correct sheets to submit to Woolworths. In Term 4 we will know what rewards and resources we have earned – exciting!
Supporting Our School – Volunteers Our school is always seeking support from our families and community members. We thank Karabi for suppling breakfast for the students on Thursday mornings. This is possible because Amy volunteers to be at our school every Thursday morning. Unfortunately, Amy was unwell and Breakfast Club was cancelled during swim scheme. Please consider volunteering some time at Karabi Community Centre or our school. You will help us to make Toongabbie East the best place for every child to be.

Chewing Gum and Soft drink Lately a few students are arriving at school with chewing gum or soft drinks. They are not a healthy food option and are creating some mess in the playground. Please ask your child to leave these at home. Lots of healthy options can be found here at “Healthy Kids” http://www.healthykids.nsw.gov.au/default.aspx
