D R E A MbiggerMacro Social Work Practice

Macro Social Work PracticeOur Macro curriculum prepares students to address social injustices and improve programs and policies through the following mechanisms: community organizing and development, social planning, policy analysis and development, political and social action, human rights, government and nonprofit agency administration and resource development. Macro practice utilizes a person in the environment approach to effectively develop, implement and evaluate initiatives that focus on larger systems and institutions within which clients operate.

The field education experience is an integral and mandatory part of our program as it provides students with hands on learning opportunities in community, administrative and policy settings. The field practicum is 2 days per week (16 hours, 3 credits per semester) for first year foundation students and 3 days per week for advanced students (24 hours, 6 credits per semester).
