The two types of activities, MUSIC AND DANCES, are connected to each other. Because children like these activities, teachers can take advantage of it. Using them, teachers can offer children new knowledge and develop skills formally during special classes or nonformally during other classes or during extracurricular activities.

In the Romanian educational system, they are taught as follow:1. Preschool education: In the esthetic and creative field (DEC) , the teachers have one class of music, one of plastic arts and one of modeling per week. In the psycho-motric field, in P.E. classes, you can also teach dance. Still, you can meet these two activities during other events in the kindergarten: school festivities, carnival, etc.Music helps teachers during some other classes, completing their knowledge, as a moment of drawing the attention or consolidation. Songs are usually easy to be remembered. Eurythmic dance, theme dance is used especially to complete the taught subjects as a teaching strategy. Examples: Alunelul, Hora mare, Samba florilor.

2. Primary school education: In the compulsory setting plan, there are 2 classes per week for the preparatory grade, 1st and 2nd grades, and for the 3rd and 4th grades there is one class of Music and Movement as a school subject. It is a new school subject (2012). It was called before Musical Education. They decided that because of the children’s need to move on the rhythm of the music. Children study both music and dance from easy to complex and then they perform. Starting with the 3rd and 4th grades children also study Games and Movement where they can learn musical games. Teachers also use music, songs and games during other classes: visual arts and practical abilities (AVAP), English, Romanian, Maths, as a teaching strategy.

Music and dance-their roleSongs and games, through their contents, influence the children’s character and will traits. They learn to be good, hardworking, to love their family, country, the nature, etc.Preschool children enjoy listening and singing songs that make them more active, happy, sociable, disciplined, all these helping to become a team or group. The resources used in Musical Education develop thinking and imagination, stimulate attention and develop auditory memory. Musical Education also influences the physical development of the children. Practicing rhythmic movements, they become more expressive.
