According to KidsHealth getting involved is a great way
to show your kids that you take an interest in their
education. It also sends a positive message that you
consider school a worthwhile cause. Even if you haven't
been involved in the past, it's never too late to start. In
fact, it may be more important than ever to get
involved when kids reach secondary school.
You can become a volunteer in 3 easy steps!
AISD "Hero Dad" Challenge
This program is designed to promote parental
engagement and volunteerism of fathers and father
figures on campus. We are challenging fathers to
complete seven tasks within an academic school year.
The dads who complete the challenge will be
recognized as Dad Champions. Learn more at

STEM ACADEMY
Students in this academy located at Martin High School will
have the opportunity to earn high school and college credits
along four pathways - engineering, biology/biomedical science,
computer science and math/science.
The STEM Academy application window for 2018-2019 is
November 13 - January 31. The application is open to incoming
freshmen and will be available at https://www.aisd.net/stem-
academy/about/admissions/. Parents are welcome to complete
the application on our campus.
A STEM Engineering teacher and a student from each pathway
will be presenting additional information during our STEM
Night on Thursday, Nov. 15. Families will be able to ask the
teacher and students questions.

Thanksgiving:Families can come to the Mission Arlington office
beginning November 1 to sign up for a Thanksgiving Basket or a Cooked Thanksgiving Meal.
Meals will be delivered to their home between 8 a.m. - 12
p.m. on Thursday, November 22.
Christmas Store at 400 W. South Street:The Christmas Store will be opened from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. December 8 through December 22. The store is closed on
Sundays.
An appointment is not needed. Childcare is provided. Each child receives one large and two small gifts.

EARLY COLLEGE - ARLINGTON COLLEGIATE HIGH SCHOOLA partnership with Tarrant County College Southeast
Campus which allows students who would not
otherwise consider attending college the opportunity
to earn a high school diploma and up to an associates
degree (two years of college) in four years. A focus of
the school is to create a seamless transition between
high school and college.
The ACHS application window for 2018-2019 is
November 13 - January 30. The application is open to
incoming freshmen and will be available at
www.aisd.net/arlington-collegiate-high-school/.
Parents are welcome to complete the application on
our campus.
