My Visit to the Yale Center for British Art

First, we drive, take the bus or walk to downtown New Haven. The Yale Center for British Art is in New Haven, CT.

When I get there, I walk through the glass doors.

The first thing I do is look up! I see the entrance court is very tall with many lights.

I walk into the Docent Room. I will meet volunteers and other program participants.

11:50-12:00 Share artwork and Goodbye

I say hello to my teachers.

Jaime Linda

I say hello to the Security Officers. They are friendly, wear dark blue jackets, and are happy to help me.

When it is time to look at art in the galleries, we leave the Docent Room.

I follow a volunteer to ride on the elevator…

Or I follow a volunteer and walk up the stairs.

Paintings and sculptures are different kinds of art.

To protect the artwork, we keep our hands in our

pockets or behind our backs.

We WALK and stay with our group.

We use a quiet voice.

We sit on our seating dots in front of the artwork.

We talk about the art with our families, volunteers, and other children.

We listen to what other people have to say. Sometimes people have different opinions than I do.

Sometimes we act out what we see in the art.

When we are done looking at the art, I follow a volunteer to ride on the elevator…

Or I follow a volunteer and walk down the

stairs.

We go back into the Docent Room.

We make art together in the Docent Room.

We clean up our workspace and share our artwork with the rest of the group.

Then we go home.
