(B) As energy usage becomes more acute and

expensive, there are many efforts to

reduce its usage cost especially in the

home. If you consider a typical house, how

would you reduce energy usage if you are

cost constrained i.e. the solution(s) needs

to be low cost and yet effective.

TORIZU 2

High energy consumption by home appliances in order to provide comfort lifestyleTORIZU 3

Reduce energy consumption

Enjoy the comfort lifestyle

Spend lesser on utility fee

Reduce pollutant

Benefits

TORIZU 4

Cause and effect chain

Home energy usage is high

Home appliances consume a lot of

energy

Home appliances are not well design and not use energy

efficiently

Home appliances utilize energy independently

without a complete solution

Human factor

Lack of concern

TORIZU 5

Engineering Contradiction

IF we want to reduce energy usage

THEN power consumption can be improve

BUT temperature cannot be maintain at a

desired level

Improving parameter : #21 = Power

Worsening parameter : #17 = Temperature

Possible Solution : #2, #14, # 17, # 25

Chosen solution : #25 = Self serviceTORIZU 6

Savlon System

Problem statement:

The problem that we aim to tackle is to

innovate wheelchair in order to create a new

technology and finally whole new market

niche without sacrificing its principle of

operation.

TORIZU 8

Benefits

Expanding of its area of

application

Creating a whole new technology

along with supporting architecture Solution towards

how people may choose to move

around in particular places

TORIZU 9

Conclusion: No evolution can be derived

Cause and Effect Chain

TORIZU 17

IF we set fire and burn the area openly

THEN we can clear the land for plantation

in a fast, cheap and easy way

BUT harmful particles will be released which

formed haze

Improving parameter : #33 = Ease of

Operation

Worsening parameter : #30 = Object-affected

harmful factors

Possible Solution : #2, #25, #28, #39

Chosen Solution : #28 = Mechanics

Ionization of air using Americium-241

particles

Making the hazardous particles fall back into

the field to be come fertiliser
