There are varied names for our God (but He is one

though!) as He expressed and as called by men -

this presentation covers few of it !!!

The names of God – Who revealed to us as

Father, Son & Holy Spirit

LORD “The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!”

Deut.6:4 and Mark 12:29

I AM WHO I AM when Moses asked about His name, God expressed this name

and Jesus to the Jews of His time.

Exo.3:14 & John 8:58

YAHWEH (JEHOVAH OR YHWH IN HEBREW)

kurios in Greek meaning Lord, Master…denoting the

omnipotence of God, despot, absolute ruler

Gen.2:4 and varied other places in Bible

AVINU (OUR FATHER)

Father or ‘Abba’- as in most Semitic languages including

‘Aramaic’ that JESUS spoke

Rom.8:15

EL SHADDAI (LORD GOD ALMIGHTY)

God completely nourishing, satisfying, and supplying His people with all

their needs or ‘All-Sufficient One’

Gen.17:1 and varied other places in Bible

Note: El, Eloah, Elah are names that are translated as "God" and can be used in

conjunction with other words to designate various aspects of God's character.

EL ELYON (THE MOST HIGH GOD)

The extreme sovereignty and majesty of God

and His highest preeminence

ADONAI (LORD MASTER)

Adonai is the verbal parallel to Yahweh and in reference

to God is plural…literally as ”my Lords”

EL OLAM (THE EVERLASTING GOD)

Olam literally means "forever," "eternity," or "everlasting"

Gen.21:33 and few other places in Bible

ELOHIM (GOD, JUDGE, CREATOR)

Translated as "God" or “Theos”(Greek), a transcendent being

who exercises extraordinary control in human affairs

EL ROI (THE GOD WHO SEES)

As spoken by Hagar - "You are the God who sees me" or "I have now seen the One who sees me.”

QANNA (JEALOUS, ZEALOUS)

The fundamental meaning relates to a marriage relationship

with God depicted as Israel's husband and He is a jealous or

zealous, wanting all our praise for Himself and no one else!

JEHOVAH NISSI (THE LORD MY BANNER, THE LORD MY MIRACLE)

Jehovah is translated as "The Existing One“ or “Lord” and ‘Nissi’ -

a banner of encouragement to give us hope and a focal point

JEHOVAH RAAH (THE LORD MY SHEPHERD)

“Shepherd” & on extended translation - "friend" or "companion”…

indicates the intimacy God desires between Himself and His people

JEHOVAH RAPHA (THE LORD THAT HEALS)

"to restore", "to heal" or "to make healthful“… Great Physician who

heals the physical and emotional needs of His people

JEHOVAH SHAMMAH (THE LORD IS THERE)

"there“…indicates that God has not abandoned Jerusalem,

leaving it in ruins, but that there will be a restoration

JEHOVAH TSIDKENU (THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS)

"to be straight," or "righteous“…Jehovah Tsidkenu - can be

translated as ‘The Lord Who is our Righteousness’

JEHOVAH MEKODDISHKEM (THE LORD-WHO SANCTIFIES YOU, WHO MAKES HOLY) "sanctify" or "holy" or "dedicate”…Jehovah Mekoddishkem - can be

translated as ‘The Lord who sets you apart’

JEHOVAH SABAOTH (THE LORD OF HOSTS, THE LORD OF POWERS)

"armies" or "hosts“…This name denotes His universal sovereignty

over every army, both spiritual and earthly

JEHOVAH JIREH (THE LORD WILL PROVIDE)

“The Lord has seen” or A symbolic name given by Abraham to

honor the intercession of God in the sacrifice of Isaac by providing a substitute for the imminent sacrifice of his son

JEHOVAH SHALOM (THE LORD IS PEACE)

"peace" or "absence from strife“…the name of an altar

built by Gideon in Ophrah

Judg. 6:24

JEHOVAH HOSEENU (THE LORD IS OUR MAKER)

ELOHIM shows us how God creates out of nothing… JEHOVAH

HOSEENU shows us how God takes something and He molds it & shapes it.
