Napoleon Bonaparte Born in 1769, three

weeks after the France took over his island

home of Corsica.

Father a lawyer who took to french rule

quickly. But Napoleon hated France and felt his father betrayed his

country.In 1778, at nine years old Napoleon was sent to France for the first

time to a special military school called

Brienne.

When he was 15, a very good student, he was

sent to the Royal Military academy and at

16 was made second Lieutenant of artillery

unit. Problem was he was not “French” and although one of the best he was

not allowed to climb the ranks.

When the revolution began, at age, 23 he went home to Corsica and got into politics.

In Corsica he began a revolution against the governor of the island.

His small force was overpowered, a price was put on his head,

and he had to leave his home back to France...

ships from coming to Europe.

He thought the British would

suffer but instead by 1812 it hurt his

own empire

Invasion of RussiaNapoleon blamed

Russia for the Continental system

not working.

In 1812, He took 600,000 troops

to invade Russia

But the Russians kept retreating, letting the cold kill all but 30,000 of the French troops

back Napoleon.

Napoleon would be imprisoned on Elba, a tiny island

The 100 DaysIn 1815 Napoleon would escape and create a

huge army.

The joined forces of Europe would meet Napoleon at Waterloo and defeat him.
