1 About NOPIMS
1.1 What is presently in the NOPIMS?
NOPIMS was launched at the 2015 Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association
(APPEA) as an online data discovery and delivery system for all Australian offshore petroleum wells
and seismic surveys. Currently NOPIMS contains data related to Wells and Surveys after January 1st,
2012 and selected data for the 2015 Offshore Petroleum Acreage Release. Reports for wells and
Seismic volumes may contain:
Well completion reports
Well analyses, core images and analyses tests
Logging While Drilling (LWD)/Measurement While Drilling (MWD) reports and LWD MWD
surveys
Mud logs
Wireline logs, wireline vertical seismic profile (VSP)
Seismic acquisition and processing reports, navigation, maps, gravity and bathymetry
Seismic interpretation files and reports
NOPIMS is continually being expanded and over time will contain reports and data for all offshore
petroleum wells and seismic surveys.
1.2 What can I download?
If the data has been prepared you can currently download as an attachment or zip file the following:
Well Completion Reports
Well Analyses, core images and analyses tests
Logging While Drilling (LWD)/Measurement While Drilling (MWD) reports and LWD MWD
Surveys
Mud logs
Wireline Logs, Wireline vertical seismic profile (VSP)

You can also add seismic data for 2D and 3D surveys to your shopping basket and place an order to
receive a copy from Geoscience Australia.
1.3 What I’m looking for isn’t there
Data for both wells and surveys in NOPIMS are a subset of the submitted data to the National
Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA). If what you’re looking for isn’t in NOPIMS yet,
please contact ausgeodata@ga.gov.au

2 Account questions
2.1 How do I get an account?
To create a NOPIMS account, launch Internet Explorer, navigate to the NOPIMS Landing Page
(www.nopims.gov.au) and click on the NOPIMS Access and Help link to open the NOPIMS Access
and Help webpage in a new tab.
Create a service request making sure to select “Accounts” for the Type and “Account Creation” for the
Sub-Type as shown below. Complete the remaining mandatory fields and click Submit Request to
send the request to the NOPIMS Helpdesk.

When your account has been created, you will be contacted via email at the email address specified
with your NOPIMS user name and password.
2.2 I can’t see anything when I log in
2.2.1 System setup
If this is the first time you’re accessing NOPIMS you might not be using a compatible system setup.
The current version of NOPIMS is compatible with Internet Explorer 9 and if you use compatibility
mode, Internet Explorer 10 and 11. Support will be provided wherever possible, but cannot be
guaranteed for unsupported versions of Internet Explorer.
2.2.1.1 Using Internet Explorer 10 in compatibility mode
Navigate to the NOPIMS Landing Page (www.nopims.gov.au) and click on the Compatibility View icon.

The NOPIMS Landing Page will now reload in compatibility mode and the Compatibility View icon
will change from grey to blue .
2.2.1.2 Using Internet Explorer 11 in compatibility mode
Navigate to the NOPIMS Landing Page (www.nopims.gov.au) and click on the Compatibility View settings menu.
The NOPIMS domain (nopims.gov.au) should be populated in the Add this website text box. Click on Add to add NOPIMS to the list of websites that are configured to use compatibility view.
Click on Close and the website will automatically refresh. NOPIMS full functionality should now be
available.

2.3 Reset your password
If you have trouble logging into your account you may be entering the wrong username and/or
password. To retrieve or reset your credentials go to
http://www.nopims.gov.au/NOPIMSTicketSubmission/ and use the Service request shown below to
make a request to retrieve or reset your credentials.
2.4 When I log in, the site returned me back to the login page saying my user name/password are not recognised
If this happens, three possible solutions are to retry the username/password you entered (NOTE: The
username and password are case sensitive), delete your internet Cookies and Temporary Internet
Files or resetting your password.

2.4.1 How to delete your stored cookies and temporary internet files for IE 11
1. Go to the tools icon and select Internet options.
2. Under Browsing history select ‘Delete…’

3. Ensure ‘Cookies and website data’, ‘Temporary Internet files and website files’ and ‘Preserve
Favourites website data’ are selected, then press Delete.
Note: You can select the other options if you wish, but are not required.
Internet Explorer will notify you when the process is completed.
4. When IE has finished deleting your cookies and temporary internet files, restart Internet
Explorer and try logging into NOPIMS again.

2.5 When I log in, my session immediately expires
If you do not have cookies enabled on Internet Explorer, you may see this when you log in:
Which immediately logs you out again. One solution is to enable cookies, to do so:
1. Click on the Tools icon and select ‘Internet Options’
2. Then click on the Privacy Tab

3. In the Privacy tab, under Settings, make sure your slider is NOT set to ‘Block All Cookies’. If
you slider was set to Block all Cookies and you saw the same issue, try lowering the slider.
NOTE: If you cannot change your corporate settings, try contacting your corporate IT and asking
them to enable Cookies on your browser for NOPIMS.
4. Press OK and try logging in again. If the problem persists try lowering the slider further.
