FSP 3000 Modules

Native Digital Video Transmission

Uncompressed Video for Guaranteed Highest Quality

Film and television studios and media broadcasters face a common challenge of transporting digital SD and HD video content for collaboration among post-production teams and for distribution of live content. They seek more effi cient and cost-effective ways to transport digital video while reducing network complexity, simplifying operations and achieving better video quality compared to implementing conventional video compression strategies. The emergence of cost-effective dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) transport solutions enables digital video to be extended over long distances at highest quality and offers network operators new business opportunities by offering digital video transport services.

When Capacity, Latency and Simplicity Matter Most

Our digital video add/drop muxponder module is a new addition to the FSP 3000 optical transport solution. It optimizes real-time transport of digital SD and HD video content in native format by multiplexing lower-speed video, audio and data onto an OTU-2 wavelength, thus transporting all your data at high spectral effi ciency. Deployment is supported over both dark fi ber and leased line infrastructure. Designed for maximum fl exibility and lowest latency, the module is capable of delivering a wide variety of raw and uncompressed video and audio formats over metro and regional distances. Supported formats include 3G-SDI, HD-SDI, SD-SDI, DVB-ASI in uni- and bidirectional mode, MADI digital audio and Gigabit Ethernet. The video muxponder module is designed for simple and cost-effective deployment. It features up to 16 service interfaces and can be used in add/drop, pass-through, drop & continue and hairpin confi gurations. Universal video SFP transceivers support multiple video formats and rates.

Fact Sheet, version 07 / 2015

Reducing HD Content Delivery Cost and Complexity

The wide-scale adoption of HD video content and increasingly dispersed post-production teams have created new business opportunities for network operators to offer native video transport services based on DWDM technology. Contribution networks for post-production collect video signals from remote sources, such as studios and live event venues, and require transport at the highest quality levels. Broadcasters seek more efficient and cost-effective ways to transport HD content to overcome satellite cost and service quality constraints.

Native digital video transport over optical DWDM networks eliminates the complexity and costs of external encoder/decoders and obsoletes compression techniques that lead to degraded video and audio quality. Our FSP 3000 helps to extend your uncompressed video signals from the source to the destination in their native signal format at lowest cost and without any form of compression. Native video transport is highly desirable and beneficial for content creators, film and television studios, editors and broadcasters.
