NDOT FLEET REPLACEMENT

FY 2014 / FY 2015 1

Request Transportation Board Approval to replace fleet vehicles

NRS 408.389 states that the Department shall not purchase any equipment which exceeds $50,000, unless the purchase is first approved by the Transportation Board.

The total purchase of these vehicles is $3,500,000 for FY 2014 and $3,500,000 for FY 2015.

NDOT has 80 classes of equipment within the fleet.

Analysis necessary for Equipment over $50,000

• Class 10 and Class 11 Vehicles (1 Ton, 1½ Ton, Medium Duty Trucks) There are 42 units of these classes being requested for replacement, with approximately 17 costing over $50,000 each.

• Class 13 & 15 Vehicles (Heavy Duty Trucks) There are 17 units of these classes being requested for replacement; all will exceed $50,000 per unit.

• Class 24 Sweepers (PM 10 Sweepers) There are 3 units of this class being requested for replacement; all will exceed $50,000 per unit.

Class 25

• Class 25 (Water Trucks) There is 1 unit of this class being requested for replacement; it will exceed $50,000. • Class 54A Skid Steer Loader There is 1 unit of this class being requested for replacement; it will exceed $50,000.

Cost Analysis

• Cost Analysis is shown in Attachment 4. • Leasing for these types of equipment is available through finance ownership contracts.
