• The laboratory has the capabilities to test corrugated board, liners, flutings and other papers such as tissues, laminates and

paperboards.

• Testing includes strength, surface and optical properties.

• Specialised services are available.

• The use of environmental chambers set to the customer’s requirements is also a service that is offered.

• The Paper laboratory was started in the late 1980’s with a few specialised items for paper testing.

• The laboratory is situated in Epping, Cape Town, South Africa.

• The laboratory shared lab space with the Plastics lab of Nampak R&D.

• The number of staff grew to four members in 2004 and it has remained at this number since then.

• The laboratory has a history of assisting students with four students undertaking work in the lab from 2003 to 2010.

• In April 2015 the lab was renamed to Neopak R&D to reflect the new company name.

Neopak R&D has been participating in international interlaboratory schemes since the early 2000s. The staff also participate in

the local Sappi TC paper testing scheme since 2012 and assisted Nampak Sacks lab with their responses from Round 42 to

Round 49. The laboratory participated in the Sappi TC box testing scheme held from 2008 to 2011 and from 2015 to date.

Other internal checks are also undertaken for the updating of the in-house prediction models. The interlaboratory testing,

together with less formal Round Robins and comparative testing between mills and suppliers, are used as proof of competency

that the results produced are correct.

The laboratory is compliant to ISO 17025, though we have not formally requested accreditation.

Have a calculated h-index = 1.

For the following article:

Marques, H.M., Munro, O.Q. and Crawcour, M.L. 1992. Coordination of N-donor ligands by hematohemin. Inorg.

Chim. Acta, 196 (2):221-229. DOI: 10.1016/S0020-1693(00)86127-7

The h-index is for scientists that publish work – as I have mostly worked at corporate companies, this

practice has been less favoured.
