Tabără to farmers: Don’t sell land,

because their prices will increase

Minister of Agriculture Valeriu Tabără, urged on Saturday, farmers in

Alba County not to sell land they own in the coming years because its

price will increase greatly, and some may reach over 25,000 €/ha.

Valeriu Tabără said that in Romania, about 4 million hectares of pastures and hayfields are "overrun

with thorns" and are considered "hard land" for agricultural work, but urged farmers not to sell

them.

"Whole areas of hill and mountain pasture are unused. I say there are about 4 million hectares. And

I say one more thing: you may expect a high pressure on what is so-called heavy land, where

remove the load and load hay wagon with great care, lest you capsize. But high pressure will be on

the land, at first sight, sir, no one buys, no one exploits. I want to say that land - land value will

increase in the future", said Tabără.

Minister of Agriculture added that in coming years won’t be a spectacular increase in real estate

land value near cities, but the agricultural land.

“Not real estate land value near cities will have value. It will remain somewhere safe with

high prices, but not spectacular growth. It may reach in excess of hectares of agricultural land

20,000 – 25000 €/hectare. In large view and not very distant in time, I tell you that the value of

agricultural land, productive or not, used or unused, will greatly increase. And I say. Do not sell the

land (...)", said Valeriu Tabără to Zlatna farmers.
