Change. Some love it. Some dont. We appreciate it.
This fall was a time of change for our family. As you know, our
routine changed this fall when Rylee began kindergarten and the
twins began preschool. This meant Megan was able to double her
hours serving in the office, changing her schedule.
The fall also brought change for Joel. For the past two years he has
worked on finding ways to promote the ministry in magazines and
onlineas a one-man department. With the advances of social
media, the ministry has sought a more visible presence online.
Leadership decided to create a team within the web department
focused on web marketing. Joel was asked to lead the team and
now works with two other staffers, Casey & Clara, doing similar work
in a much more broad range. Each day they seek new ways to make
GFA known so national missionaries can make Jesus known all
throughout Asia.
Just as Joel was settling into his new position, Megan was asked to
change offices. She now serves two days a week in Servants
Quarters, the office of GFA President KP Yohannan. While helping
with other administrative tasks, she has been learning to transcribe
and enjoys the new challenge!
While it takes time to adjust to changes, it keeps us growing andrelying on the Lord, which is exactly where we want to be!

Womens Ministry:Womens Ministry:Womens Ministry:Womens Ministry:
Here and AfarHere and AfarHere and AfarHere and AfarA note from Megan.
Sometimes its hard to relate to a country half a world away with completelydifferent customs and culture than our own. During our trip to India last January,we met many amazing missionaries. Their faith encouraged us and theircommitment challenged us.
One particular aspect of the ministry that touched my heart was WomensFellowship. Having served on the womens ministry team at our church inHarrisburg, I have a soft spot in my heart for women and their particular needs.During our trip, I learned that almost every GFA-supported church has a WomensFellowship.
Established in 2005, the Womens Fellowship ministry strengthens local churchcongregations by discipling the women, equipping them for evangelistic outreachin their communities and addressing other needs in their lives.
Most of the women in these churches are first-generation Christians. Their greatestneed is to be grounded in the Word of God, learn to serve in the local church andshare the Gospel in their communities.
In addition, many of the women come from poor economic backgrounds and havelittle or no education. So the Women's Fellowship also provides literacy trainingand teaches them skills to improve their health, economic level and family life.
I cannot imagine trying to prepare a Bible study for women who cant read. But,
GFA-supported women missionaries and missionaries wives do it on a regularbasis. They meet regularly to teach these precious women the Word of God andalso teach them how to read!
If it were not for the Womens Fellowship, many women would never hear ofJesus. In most Asian countries, women live very restricted lives. Generally, theyare less educated than the men, are not free to make their own decisions andhardly ever interact with men outside their immediate families.
So it is not easy for male missionaries to share the Gospel with these ladies unlessthey attend church or their husbands come to Christ first. But there are no culturalrestrictions for women missionaries or missionaries wives to spend time withthem.
I came home from India with a new burden to pray for my sisters on the field. Icannot imagine some of the work they do. One of my greatest challenges inwomens ministry was trying to get more women to participate. I never had tofigure out a way to teach Gods Word to women who couldnt read! (How can youmemorize Scripture as a new believer?)
Many times I miss teaching Bible study and the fun events of womens ministry. But, I know that right now my job is to stand in prayer for my Asian sistersboththose teaching and those learning.
