What it should include . . .Band BiographiesManagement / Staff BiographiesDigital Artwork (as applicable): logo and photos of band members

Band Biography 500 wordsYour first paragraph should define your band’s name.

How does your band name reflect the essence of your musical genre?

Your second paragraph should talk about the roles each band member plays in the band. How did your band form? Are you old friends?

Family? Strictly professional band mates? Tell your story.

Next, describe your band in detail in regards to its music. How would you describe your band? What

makes your music so special? Who inspires you all?

Band Member BiographiesAs an artist, you’re going to be forced to repeatedly explain yourself.

Keep in mind that your biography is a professional sales tool. For this reason, you’re going to need to use a marketing strategy. This must communicate what you have to offer to your fans.

Your bio represents your first opportunity to spark interest in someone who may become a fan of your work.

It should be about 500 words long.

What to AvoidA common mistake that musicians make is telling their story from birth. There is no need to tell people about everything from the day you were born. No one needs to know you played the lead role in your fourth grade production of The Sound of Music. Stay on point on what you’re doing now.

Interview You are required to write a biography on one of your band

members. This will also require that you interview your chosen band

member.

Interview Questions What is your full name? Do you have a “stage” name? Where are you from? Where do you live now? What instruments do you play? By whom were you inspired to play music? What is your background in this medium? (schooling, past

projects, shows, awards, etc.) What are you working on currently? (other bands, solo

music, etc.)

Your bio on your band member . . .Should be about 350 words in length.Should be written in third person since you’re writing it about someone else!

Include a nice picture that accurately represents the person you have written about.
