My unused presentation for the rollicking discussion about crowdsourcing at NMC

TRANSCRIPT

I  don’t  like  to  use  the  word  “crowdsourcing”

Why  not?

Why  not?

•  It  smacks  of  exploita=on.  “Let’s  get  the  crowd  to  do  it  for  us.”

Why  not?

•  It  smacks  of  exploita=on.  “Let’s  get  the  crowd  to  do  it  for  us.”

•  It  makes  the  crowd  sound  like  a  natural  resource  to  be  mined.

•  It  doesn’t  acknowledge  the  rela=onship  that  exists  whenever  you  ask  strangers  to  help  you  fulfill  your  mission.

•  They  have  the  possibility  to  turn  passive  visitors  into  ac=ve  co-‐creators,  co-‐funders,  and  co-‐owners  of  our  outputs.
