BLEK LE RAT (pronounced: [blзk le ʁa]; born Xavier Prou, 1952) was one of the first graffiti artists in Paris, and has been described as the “Father of Stencil Graffiti”. Prou began his artwork
in 1981, painting stencils of rats on the street walls of Paris, describing the rat as ”the only free animal in the city”, and one which ”spreads the plague everywhere, just like street art”. His name originates from the comic book Blek le Roc, using ”rat” as an anagram for ”art”.
CAROLINA FALKHOLT She tends to work in large scales, site specific and through improvisation. In her practice she deals with topics like the biograp-hical, contemporary social issues and
local history. Her firm standpoints about issues like feminism and artistic freedom, and the fact that she with her work, and with her persona she take up big public spaces which clashes with patriarchal structu-res and provokes discussion. Carolina Falkholt’s artistic process on site is fierce and exact. Formally the colourful sfumato-like backgrounds meet her sig-nificant line drawings that form intricate meshworks, and typical motives are semiotic imagery and the female body.
ECB Hendrik ecb Beikirch is well known for his brilliant black and white portraits painted either on canvas or on large buildings. His highly poetic portraits often depict people from the
immediate neighborhood appearing strange and familiar at the same time. Even though dedicated to a meticulous realism, he sometimes likes to distort his portraits by either stretching or compressing them. Moreover, the dripping technique, making single paint drops to run down, is a distinctive feature of many of his works.
EKTA (Daniel Götesson) born 1978, got his education at London College of Communication and whilst now living in Gothenburg he works all across Euro-pe. During the last couple of years Ekta
has created a number of large murals in Sweden, Poland and England amongst other countries. He mainly works with painting but also sculptures in ma-terial such as concrete and wood, this he has done lately in conjunction with public art commissions for municipalitys.
ETAM CRU Etam Cru are ”Sainer” and ”Bezt”. “Sainer” born in 1988 in¸ódê, Poland. By portraying real objects and figures in untypical contexts, he invites the viewer to the world of imagination
where the meanings are not strictly defined. The viewer is encouraged to walk into Sainer’s surreal story and continue it in his own, individual way. “Bezt” (Mateusz Gapski) born in 1987 in Turek Poland. He started doing graffiti around 1999/2000 and you can see his work all around the world. He is connec-ting oil and acrylic painting with painting murals, illustration and graffiti.
KOBRA Brazilian artist Eduardo Kobra utilizes bright colors and bold lines whi-le staying true to a kaleidoscope theme throughout his art. The technique of repeating squares and triangles allows
him to bring to life the famous people he depicts in his images. This checkered pattern, filled with different textures, lines, and shading, builds up to Eduardo Kobra’s final masterpiece, a larger than life mural for all to see and marvel at.
ISAAC CORDAL With the simple act of miniaturization and thoughtful place-ment, Isaac Cordal magically expands the imagination of pedestrians finding his sculptures on the street. Cement
Eclipses is a critical definition of our behaviour as a social mass. The art work intends to catch the attention on our devalued relation with the nature through a critical look to the collateral effects of our evolution. With the master touch of a stage director, the figures are placed in locations that quickly open doors to other worlds. The scenes zoom in the routi-ne tasks of the contemporary human being.
NATALIA RAK I was born in 1986. I graduated with the Diploma of Spatial and Poster Design in Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. I paint street art because I like the contact with nature. I´m open
to the world, not like sitting in closed rooms. When I´m painting a big wall I feel a magic of large surface. I like to experience something new and have fun with it. Thanks to that I can travel and see different places. I like the smell of spray cans and I feel happy while I´m painting.
OLLIO Jonathan Josefsson made himself a name as graffiti artist Ollio in Gothenburg during the 21st century. He stood out within the graffiti scene in Gothenburg in the way he used and
placed his tags and paintings, he was also one of the first established graffiti artist in Gothenburg to reveal his identity. Whilst studying at the School of Design and Crafts he discovered the similarities between the spray can and the carpet tufting machine and allowed his playful artistic idiom to be transferred onto carpets.
PEETA Peeta, also known as Manuel Di Rita, is a graffiti artist since 1993 cur-rently living in Venice. He is a member of the EAD crew (Padova, Italy), FX and RWK crews (New York City) and has par-
ticipated in graffiti jams and Meeting of Styles events in Europe and the Americas. His work explores the potential of sculptural lettering, both in painting and in sculpture.
THE LONDON POLICE The london police started in 1998 when big english geezers headed to Amsterdam to rejuvenate the visually disappointing streets of Hollands capital. They were
part of a small group of artists at the end of the last century that helped pioneer a new street art move-ment. After a few years of mixing traveling and ma-king art in the street TLP began to receive Worldwide recognition for their contribution to the graffiti/street art movement. They were included in many of the books documenting the scene and invited for shows and live drawing performances all over the globe.
During 4-7th of September the city of Borås will turn into a gigant outdoor gallery created by 11 internationally well known street artists representing 8 different countries (The Netherlands, France, Brasil, Italy, Germany, Poland, Spain and Sweden). The walls, which the artists will be painting over the course of the four days long event, reaches as high as 7-storey buildnings.
Borås, with it´s history in opening it´s doors to art (from the International SculptureBiennale to it´s extensive exhibitions at the Borås Museum of Modern Art and
