The Norman invasion
Edward the Confessor died childless
In 1066 .
After his death there was a war of
succession .
His brother in law , Harold Godwineson wanted
the English throne .
Meanwhile William , duke of Normandy, wanted
the throne promised by Edward the Confessor and
for this he wanted to prepare an invasion .
After crossing English Channel on 28th Septembar
1066 and he fought with Herold .
The meeting of the two armies was on 14th October 1066 .
Harold used foot soldiers .
Insted William used archers and mounted warriors.
