INDUSTRY FOCUSED CURRICULUM
By pegging the curriculum with the current market signals, DoMS has revamped its
curriculum across all Functional Domains and is now offering industry-specific specializations
in Business Analytics and Business Analysis & IT Consulting cutting across traditional functional
specializations.
A robust curriculum was framed with inputs from the companies like Genpact, MindTree,
Fidelity, HP, Cognizant, TCS, Infosys, WIPRO, DeciDyn and AOL with our Professors visiting the
companies and brainstorming about the structure and contents of the curriculum. The idea
was hailed by the industry as it would provide quality manpower and give a data-oriented
decision making flavor across traditional business functions to the students.

perspective which is essential to
tune tactics required to achieve
the goals, it helped me sharpen
my critical thinking. I developed
sound financial skills and more

The DoMS MBA programme follows trimester pattern and imparts in-depth knowledge in the
crosscuts of all academic areas and pools together resources from every functional area,
thus driving home the importance of seeing the “big picture” in business.
The programme builds the fundamental knowledge of the students, permitting them to
explore their interests to a greater depth. It emphasizes more on application of
management principles and techniques in modern business through continuous industrial
interactions and highlights decision making for controlling and applying management
concepts. The projects and the assignments undertaken as a part of the programme help
students in their betterment with due emphasis on teamwork.
The course work comprises of core subjects and electives. While the core subjects help the
students prepare for advanced study in their areas of interest, the electives focus on
extending their depth and understanding on the subjects of interest. A two-month internship
at the end of first year gives the students an insight about company environment and
learning experience, thus helping them to integrate theory with practice.
A high profile board of studies periodically reviews and updates the syllabi based on the
changing needs of business environment and brings it for the approval of the senate. The
programme covers 32 courses spread over modules of 10 weeks each and a summer project
of 8 weeks, over a 2-years period.

DEPARTMENT OFTRAINING & PLACEMENT
The Department of Training and Placement nurtures Industry Institute interaction, by organizing and
coordinating frequent industrial visits, training and projects of industrial relevance for the students with the sole
aim of zeroing down the hiatus between the industry and the academia. It receives and forwards the
feedback pertinent to curriculum improvement from the visiting companies to the faculty, to ensure that the
curriculum follows the latest industrial trend. Moreover, it helps every student define his/her career interest
through individual expert counseling.
The department has an updated database of the job profiles of the companies which helps each student
analyze and choose a company of his/her own interest. It organizes and coordinates a Campus Placement
Program, to fulfill its commitment of obtaining a job to every aspirant. The composite mix of students and
academicians from all over the country ensures a competitive environment. Ever since its establishment, the
institution has registered speedy progress. Over the years, the department has maintained symbiotic, vibrant
and purposeful relationship with Industries across the country and as a result, has built up an impressive
placement record both in terms of percentage of registered students placed, as well as the number of
companies visiting the campus. During the recession period when the other B schools were struggling for
placements, the Department of Management Studies in NIT Trichy was able to place the students of the batch
in good companies and at very impressive packages.
The department endows the company with fine amenities to hold preplacement talks, written tests, group
discussions and interview. Audio and video aids like laptops and LCD projectors for preplacement talks and
internet facilities for online tests will be arranged on prior intimation. Conveyance to and fro from the railway
station or airport is arranged by the department. Accommodation and food is provided by the institute guest
house for the company on prior intimation and the costs for the same are borne by the institute.
The placement process begins with the previsit response sheet sent to the company. A schedule is made for the
company's visit to the campus for conducting their recruitment process. The preplacement talks by the
company are scheduled on the same day as that of the recruitment.

ROCK FORT TEMPLEThe 83m high Rock Fort is the only outcrop in the otherwise flat land of the city. The rock is one of the oldest in the world-approximately 3.800 million years, which makes it as old as the rocks of Greenland and older than the Himalayas. The sheer abruptness of its rise is a thrill in itself, but the actual centre of attraction is not the fort itself, of which very little remains, but the temple at the summit. 344 steps hewn out of rock lead to the top where there are inscriptions dating back to the 3rd century.B.C
SRIRANGAMThe district's most important pilgrim centre is located in an island just 7 kms from Tiruchi. Srirangam, surrounded by the waters of river Cauveri on one side and its tributary kollidam on the other, is a 600 acre island-town enclosed within the seven walls of the gigantic Sriranganathaswami Temple. Most of it dates from the 14th to 17th centuries, and many people have had a hand in its construction, including the Cheras, Pandyas, Cholas, Hoysalas and rulers from Vijayanagar. The largest gopuram in the first wall on the southern side was completed as recently as 1987, and now measures 73m.
KALLANAI THE GRAND ANAICUT Not far from the island is one of the
greatest engineering marvels of India. The Grand Anaicut built by Karikalan Chola in the 2nd century A.D. to harness the waters of the Kaveri. Made of stone, the dam is 329 m long and 20m wide and still very much in use. Additions have been made in the form of a road bridge on top of the dam. This is a good picnic spot.
BRIHADEESWARAR TEMPLE The Peruvudaiyar Kovil or Brihadeeswarar
Temple, also known as Rajarajeswaram at Thanjavur in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, is the world's first complete granite temple and a brilliant example of the major heights achieved by Cholas kingdom Vishwakarmas in temple architecture. It is a tribute and a reflection of the power of its patron RajaRaja Chola I. It remains as one of the greatest glories of Indian architecture. The temple is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Great Living Chola Temples".
THE LOURDE’S CHURCH, TRICHY is a replica of the famous Church at
France known as Basilica of Lourdes. The Church at France is known for its curative value and therefore for the believers, the Basilica of Lourdes is the right place to find solace from their bodily pains.
