Happy Week 9 everyone, I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend.
Camp Quality
On Tuesday last week, Camp Quality performed an interactive puppet show that dispels myths and
misconceptions commonly associated with cancer, in a fun, educational and age‐appropriate way. This is
the second time The Camp Quality Primary School Cancer Education Program has visited NWPS and they
have been delivering to primary schools and preschools across Australia for over 30 years.
Reports
Our teachers are awesome and have been busy finalising your child’s school report, which involves many
hours of after school, late nights and weekend work. You can expect to receive your child’s Semester 1
report on Thursday 24th June in Week 10.
Kindergarten enrolments
If you or anyone you know are interested in enrolling their child at North Wagga Public School in
Kindergarten for 2022, please encourage them to complete the online enrolment application as soon as
possible. We ask that all in‐zone and out‐of‐zone applications to be completed this way. If you head to our
school website, you can find the application links, under the enrolment tab. Please contact the school if you
need assistance.
Fabulous Feedback
I received an email from a very proud mother last week, commending our soccer team:
“I wanted to let you know as a parent how proud I am of the boys soccer team. Their commitment to each game, their
team spirit, their sportsmanship, their behaviour was nothing short of exemplary. They played their 3 games at full speed and definitely gave us 3 exciting and entertaining games to watch.”
Well done boys, you also make me very proud too!
Fete
During week 10 (next week) students are encouraged to bring in items for their class hamper for the fete.
Each class has a different theme and the class that collects the most items next week will received a hot
chip lunch on Friday, the stakes are high!

Early/Late Leavers
I would like to remind parents that there is no supervision in the mornings before 8:45am. We have a bus
that comes before that time, however, they are the only students that should be onsite. These students are
seated at the staffroom steps. We are finding more and more students are arriving early and commencing
play when they get here. It will only be a matter of time before someone gets hurt. May I suggest that if your
work commitments leave you no other option, that you enrol your child in our onsite OOSH program which
is run by PCYC. Your child may also appreciate being inside on these cold and frosty mornings.

It was 10th June around 9:40 am. The race I was in, the 12/13 girls was
second last and the time it started was about 2:30 pm. When the race
started I didn’t sprint at the start because the ground was uneven. I was
worried because I was coming in the 20th area. Luckily people were
going slower so near the end I was around 10th place. I was still
overtaking people, at the end I sprinted as hard as I could. While I was
sprinting my legs ached so much but I was glad I made it to State Cross
Country in Sydney.

On the 10th of June 2021, 24 students
went to a tennis comp at the South Wagga
Tennis Club. There were 3 groups of 3
different schools, Estella Public, South
Wagga and North Wagga .
There were eight different rounds but
only one group could make it into the next
round from North Wagga. It was group 1.
That group included Isabel, Hudson, Joey,
Georgia, Ivy, Dusty, Caitlin and Toby.
They happily all made it into the next
round and tried their best so
congratulations to those eight students
and we wish them luck.
From the North Wagga Tennis Team
We left North Wagga at 6:30 in the morning with our dance group. It took 2 hours and 15 minutes to get
to Albury Entertainment Centre. When we got there, we changed into our costumes, then we had a
practice on the stage before our real performance. We had 2 performances, one at 1 pm and the other
at 7 pm. There was also 6 hours between our two performances. 7 schools attended this festival and
there were 25 performances altogether.
These were the people that represented our school, Isabella, Isabel, Trinity, Charlotte, Eleonor,
Emmerson, Myer, Chloe O, Albie, Lottie, Harry, Harrison, Tarryn, Ellie, Addison and Oliver.
In between performances we played games with the other schools. We had lots of fun and it was
exciting.

OUT & ABOUT AT NWPS
You know the importance of good nutrition, but how do you feed a picky eater or a child with no appetite? Teaching kids positive eating behaviours can set them up with healthy eating habits for life. Children also need to eat more as they grow. As a guide your child should eat these foods every day:
• 4 to 8 years: 1½ serves of fruit; 4½ serves of vegetables; 4 serves of grains; 1 ½
serves of meat/poultry; 1½ to 2 serves of dairy
• 9 to 11 years: 2 serves of fruit; 5 serves of vegetables; 4 to 5 serves of grains; 2½
serves of meat/poultry; 2½ to 3 serves of dairy
• 12 to 13 years: 2 serves of fruit; 5 to 5 ½ serves of vegetables; 5 to 6 serves of grains; 2 ½ serves
meat/poultry; 3 ½ serves dairy
Not all kids want to do this so how do we get our kids eating within dietary guidelines? Some things to try
include;
• Cook meals at home and try to encourage your children to help you. Involve your kids in the menu planning and shopping too.
• Avoid negative language around less healthy foods such as ‘bad’ or ‘fattening’. Refer to these foods as
“sometimes” foods and keep portion sizes small.
• Listen to hunger cues. Most children are great at eating to their hunger so let your child stop eating when they don’t want anymore. Always have healthy options available for when they are hungry.
• Children start to form food likes and dislikes from an early age, so always offer variety. It can take up to 20 attempts for your child to like a new food so don’t give up. Offer small amounts and try presenting it
in a fun engaging way.
• For children who are very sensitive to new foods it can help to let them play with food first. Once they
can tolerate playing with it, allow them to try a little and spit it out if they don’t like it. Once they can eat a nibble, try to get them to take a full bite. Continue to increase the amount they can eat until they
are eating a full serve for their age.
Sometimes parents still struggle to eat the right type or amount of food. Maybe they just won’t eat any
type of vegetable or perhaps will only eat one colour of food. Seek advice from your GP or child health
nurse, or consult a paediatric dietician. For children with sensory needs, a speech pathologist or
occupational therapist can be helpful. The internet also has information about healthy eating for children.
