Parish Vision Statement
We, the faith filled members of San Miguel Parish
and its Missions, a part of the
Archdiocese of Santa Fe, find strength, unity and grace in the
Celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. As the voices and
hands of Jesus in our time, our purpose is to express God’s grace
by offering Christian Love and
Service to each other and to everyone we meet. We reach out to
the world in prayer, action and deeds in unity with the
Holy Roman Catholic Church.

and tight fitting clothes are a sign of disrespect to the church.

Fourth Sunday of Easter
May 12, 2019
MOTHER’S DAY
I originally wrote this in 2011 after my heart attack. It’s just as real
today as it was then.
I write this as a mother. Being a mother is the hardest job ever, but
the most fulfilling, rewarding and definitely, one of the most meaning-
ful jobs. Right from the beginning, we are there pushing, prodding,
and guiding in slow spirals towards the stars. Love has no answers,
yet its beauty answers all.
There are so many memories and so many emotions. There is so
much laughter, so many tears of sadness and joy and so much pride.
Lullaby’s sung while holding children in our arms. We cry with them
when they receive their required shots. We celebrate, with pride,
their Baptisms. Watch them take their first steps and crossing un-
steadily across the floor until finally, they walk, steadily, out the door.
Then, comes the potty training, first day of school, First Communion,
Confirmation, first date, first formal dance, first heart break, high
school graduation and the beginning of their adult lives, needing us
less and less.
And we worry now "Are they ok?" Is there more we could have
done? As we walk in the paths of our unknown we sometimes wonder
"Where have my children gone and what, in God’s name, ARE they
doing?" We don’t, always, understand what they do and WHY they
do what they do. They don’t seem to always follow what we’ve taught
them. But, they are where we have led them. With a special love,
we’ve showed them the way, to believe in themselves and the decisions
they make, while taking on the challenges of life day-to-day. Where
ever they go, they can be sure, in spirit, they will never be alone.
Mom will always be our “home.” I always have the hope that my
children and grandchildren feel the same about me. It doesn’t matter
where we live; we, mothers, are “home.”
The most difficult part of being a mother, for me, is letting go. As my
children and grandchildren grow into adulthood, their decisions are
just that, their decisions. Although as mothers, our guidance is still
available, it is at their request. And as they become adults, they need
our support and love more than ever. We need to give their lives to
God, let go, and let God. God said, "Here's My plan for you: Give
your life to Me, and just let go (His plan may not necessarily be our
plan). Have faith and pray, and read the Bible and you'll have bless-
ings more than you can know."
Today is a day to thank my mother and mother-In-law for all their
love and support all these past years, to take a moment and catch my
breath, to thank God for my blessings while asking Him for healing
for my family. So simple, yet it brings me perfect peace; Living life
for God the way I should. Direction, purpose, fullness and release-
Life with God is very, very good.
However, I am always mindful of the luxury mothers in the Western
world have to contemplate on how and why we do what we do and, so,
I especially ask for your prayers for those mothers in parts of the
world who are watching their children die through extreme poverty
and war. These mothers who manage to cling on to their faith are the
true Christian Mothers.
What does it mean for me to be a mom? It means, love. Pure and
simple, love.
I’ll end with a short prayer: Lord, help me to treasure every phone
call, e-mail, letter and visit with my kids and to be grateful they’re all
on their own making their own happiness. Amen
Yours in Christ,
Lorella
