One Day in
PompeiiBy: Jeanine Beccari, Lauren Massara,
Angela Robb, & Elanna Tolz
The social studies theme that best connects to our field
trip to A Day In Pompeii is “culture”. Since the exhibit primarily focused on the culture and
society of Pompeii before the volcanic eruption destroyed the city and its inhabitants, this theme fits best.
While a portion of the exhibit did explain the volcanic eruption and its after effects, the majority focused on the culture of Pompeii.
The exhibit showcased different artifacts from Pompeii ranging from statues, to bathtubs, to bowls, to armor, to medical instruments.
Looking at these objects and reading blurbs about their original usage gave students an insight into the culture of Pompeii.
