•Read and understand the Operator’sManual and all safety decals before operating, servicing, adjusting,repairingorhitchingtheequipment.
•DonotattemptanyunauthorisedmodificationstoyourSouthernCrossAgMachineryproductasthiscouldaffectfunctionorsafetyandcouldaffectthelifeoftheequipment.
•NeverstartoroperatetheSlasherexceptfromtheoperator’sstationonthepowerunit.
•Inspectandcleantheworkingareabeforeoperating.Removeallobstructionssuchasrocks,stumpsandwire.
•Keephands,feet,clothing,andhairawayfrommovingparts.
•Ensurebystandersareclearoftheareabeforeoperating.Aminimumdistanceof100metresshouldbekeptfromallbystanderswhenSlasherisinoperation.
•Never operate this equipment while using alcoholic beverages or drugs that can hinder alertness orcoordination.Consultyourdoctoraboutoperatingthismachinewhiletakinganymedication.
•Undernocircumstancesshouldchildrenundertheageof18beallowedtoworkwithoraroundthisequipment.Donotallowanyonetooperateorassemblethisequipmentuntiltheyhavereadandunderstoodthismanual.
•Thisequipmentisdangeroustoanyoneunfamiliarwithitsoperation.Theoperatorshouldberesponsible,properly qualified and physically able person familiar with farm machinery and competent in this equipmentsoperation.
•All new operators or owners must review the manual before using the equipment and at least annuallythereafter.
•Inordertoprovideaclearview,certainillustrationsinthismanualmayshowanassemblywithasafetyguardremovedequipmentshouldneverbeoperatedinthiscondition.Keepallguardsinplace.Ifguardremovalbecomesnecessaryforrepairs,reinstalltheguardspriortouse.
•Replaceanysafetydecalthatisnotlegibleorismissing.Thelocationsofsuchsafetydecalsareindicatedinthismanual.

Employer/Controller ResponsibilitiesOH&Slegislationplacesobligationsontheemployer,orthecontrolleroftheSlasher,toidentifythehazardsandcontroltherisksassociatedwiththeuseoftheSlasherintheirworkplaceandtodosoinaccordancewiththemanufacturer’sinstructions.
WhenpurchasingaSlasher:
•Ensurethemanufacturer’sinstructionsareprovidedatthepointofpurchase.
•EnsuretheSlasherconformstoindustrysafetystandards.
•Discussyourneedswiththesupplier,toensuretheSlasheriscompatiblewiththepowerofyourtractorandisappropriatefortheintendedapplication–considerthespeedofyourtractor’sPTOanditscompatibilitywiththeSlasher’sgearbox.
•Seek practical advice and instruction from the supplier on the use and limitations of the Slasher. If youarehiring,leasingorborrowingaSlasheronatemporarybasis,getsafeuseinstructionsfromthepersonsupplyingit.
•TheemployermustprovidesafetyinstructionstoallthoseinvolvedinusingaSlasher.
•AcopyofsafetyinstructionsmustbekeptingoodconditionwiththeSlasher.
•Generally, the safety instructions should be the manufacturer’s instructions. Any variations from themanufacturer’s instructionsmust be based on a risk assessment andmust not remove any of the safetyfeaturesnorexposeanyonetorisks.
Supervision, Instruction and TrainingTheemployermustprovidesafesystemsofwork,adequatesupervision,instructionandtrainingtoallthoseinvolvedinusingaSlasher.TheymustbeinstructedinthesafeoperationoftheSlasher, includinghazardsspecifictotheworkplace,includingtheterrain,stabilityofthetractor,workingenvironmentandthelike.Theemployer should ensure that everyone achieves a level of understanding that enables them to safely andcompetentlyoperatetheSlasher.
Inspection, Maintenance and Repair•TheSlashermustbe inspectedaccordingtothemanufacturer’s instructions,prior touse.Seepage20forMaintenanceInstructions.
•Allproblemsidentifiedmustberectified,priortouse.
•TheSlashermustbemaintainedaccordingtothemanufacturer’sinstructions.
•Replacementpartsmustbetotheoriginalmanufacturer’sspecificationsortheirequivalent.
•Safetysignsanddecalsshouldbelegible,maintainedandwherenecessaryreplaced.
•Repairsshouldbecarriedoutbyacompetentperson.
•Whensuspending theSlasher formaintenanceor repair,whetherattached to the tractororsuspended inanotherway,adequatesafetystandsmustbeusedtopreventinadvertentloweringoftheSlasher.
Service and Maintenance Safety•Stopengine,setbrake,removeignitionkeyandwaitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeservicing,adjusting,repairingorunplugging.
•Supporttheequipmentwithblocksorsafetystandsbeforeworkingbeneathit.
•Followgoodshoppracticesincluding: –keepserviceareacleananddry –besureelectricaloutletsandtoolsareproperlygrounded –useadequatelightforthejob.
•Useonlytools,jacksandhoistsofsufficientcapacityforthejob.
•Replaceandsecureallshieldsremovedduringservicingbeforeoperating.
•Useheavyleatherglovestohandlesharpobjects.

•Placealltractorandmachinecontrolsinneutralbeforestarting.
•OperateonlywithRollOverProtectiveSystem(ROPS)andseatbeltequippedtractors.
•Donotoperateinsideabuildingunlessthereisadequateventilation.
•Ensureallshieldsareinplaceandingoodconditionbeforeoperating.
•StayclearofPTOshaftandmachinewhenengagingPTO.
OperationPrior touse, theSlasher shouldbe inspected to ensure it isworking correctly.All safety featuresmustbeincludedinthisinspection.Ifanysafetyfeatureisnotworkingcorrectly,theSlashermustnotbeused.TheSlashermustbeoperatedaccordingtothemanufacturer’sinstructions.
Theoperatormustensurethatno-oneisexposedtorisksarisingfromtheslashingoperation.
Additionalsafetycontrolsmayberequiredwhenoperatinginthevicinityofpeopleortraffic–e.g.alongsidehighways,roadsorotherpublicareas.
Where adjustable or removable guarding is provided for specific applications, such as vineyards andhorticulture,andtheguardinghasbeenremovedorisnolongereffective,appropriatecontrolmeasuresmustbeimplemented.Thesecontrolsmustensurethattheriskof injuryiseliminatedorcontrolled.BeforeusingaSlasherinanapplicationotherthanthatoutlinedabove,theguardsmustbereadjustedorreplacedsoastobeeffective.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Priortouse,ariskassessmentmustbeundertakentodeterminetheappropriatePPErequired.AnyidentifiedPPEmustbeprovidedbytheemployerandmustbeusedbythoseinvolvedintheoperationandmaintenanceoftheSlasher.ExamplesofPPEareappropriatefootwearandhearing&eyeprotection.
Storage and TransportWhennot inuse, theSlashermustbe transportedandstoredaccording to themanufacturer’s instructions.Requirementsmay differwhen transporting a Slasherwithin a property and on a public road – youmustcomplywithallstatutoryrequirements.
Storage Safety•Storetheunitinanareaawayfromhumanactivity.
•Donotpermitchildrentoplayonoraroundthestoredmachine.
•Supporttheframeonstandsandblockstoprovideasecurebase.
Transport Safety•ReviewTransportSafetyinstructionsintractormanualbeforemoving.
•Checkwithlocalauthoritiesregardingtransportonpublicroads.Obeyallapplicablelawsandregulations.
•MakesuretheSMV(SlowMovingVehicle)emblemandallthelightsandreflectorsthatarerequiredbythelocalhighwayandtransportauthoritiesareinplace,areclean,andcanbeseenclearlybyallovertakingandoncomingtraffic.
•Neverhavetheequipmentinoperationduringtransport.
•Alwaystravelatasafespeed.

Beforeanymodificationsaredone,contactthemanufacturerorsupplier.
Anyonewhoundertakesmodificationssubsequentlyassumestheroleandresponsibilitiesofthedesignerandmanufacturer.ThisdoesnotincludeshorteningaPTOshaftandcoverwhenfirstinstallingtheSlasheronatractor(refertopage10fordetails).
TheinstructionsrelatingtotheSlasheranditsusemayneedtoberevisedfollowingamodification.
AnymodificationsmadewithoutmanufacturersapprovalwillvoidWarranty.
Safety Signs•Referpages17-19fortheapproximatelocationanddetailofsafetysigns.
•Keepallsafetysignscleanandlegibleandreplaceanythataredamagedormissing.
•When original parts are replaced, any safety signs affixed to those parts should be replaced as well.Replacementsafetysignsareavailablefromyourlocaldealer.
Installation of Safety Signs•Toinstallsafetysigns,ensuretheinstallationareaiscleananddry.Decideontheexactpositionbeforeyouremovethebackingpaper.Removethesmallestportionofthesplitbackingpaperandalignoverthespecifiedarea.Carefullypressinplace.
•Slowlypeelbacktheremainingpaperandsmooththeremainingportioninplace.Smallairpocketscanbepiercedwithapinandsmoothedout.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1TakeallthecomponentsoutfromthepackingcrateandplacetheSlasherdeckonaflatandlevelsurface.
STEP 2Inspecteachcomponent–liftarmframe(A),dragchain(B),bellshapedplasticsafetyguard(C),intake(D)anddischarge(E)assembles,slipclutch(F)andskidplates(G).Makesurethereisnodamagetotheparts.

STEP 1 Take all the components out from the packing crate and place the mower deck on flat and level surface.

STEP 2 Inspect each component - lift arm frame, drag chain, metal guard shieldand skid plates etc. Make sure thereis no damage to the parts.
FIGURE 2
STEP 3 Frist, install the metal plate to the gear box, using 4- M8x12 bolts and flat washers and tighten the bolts to attach the plate to the gear box.

Second, install the metal guard shield to themower deck, using 4- M10 nuts and flat washers and lock washers and tighten the bolts to attach the guard shield securely tothe deck.

STEP 3First,installtheplasticsafetyguard(AS8209)for45HPgearboxesand(AS8409)for75HPgearboxesusing thefoursupplied–M8x12Grade8.8bolts,flatandspringwashers.Tightentheboltstosecurelyattach thesafetyguardtothegearboxasshowninFigure5.Removethesideaccesspanelfromthesafetyguardusingthetworedplasticscrews.

WARRANTY PROCESS
1.ContactyourdealerorpointofpurchasewhowillcontactSouthernCrossAgMachinery.
2.Photosandorvideofootagemayberequiredtoprocessyourclaimwithashortdescriptionoftheproblem.ThiswillbelodgedthroughyourdealerorpointofpurchasebythecompletionoftheSouthernCrossAgMachineryWarranty Claim Form.
3.TheclaimwillbeassessedbySouthernCrossAgMachinerytodeterminewhetherthewarrantyclaimwillbeapproved.ThiscantakeuptofiveworkingdaysfromwhenSouthernCrossAgMachineryisfirstnotifiedoftheproblemandproofofproductfailurealongwithWarranty Claim Formissupplied.
4.IftheWarranty ClaimisapprovedaWarranty Claim NumberwillbeissuedtotheDealer.
5.AnyworkcommencedwithoutapprovalfromSouthernCrossAgMachineryandwithoutaWarranty Claim NumberwillnotbecoveredbyWarranty.RepairsmustbemadebySouthernCrossAgMachineryoranauthoriseddealer.SouthernCrossAgMachineryreservestheexclusiverighttodeterminewhetheritwillpaylabourcostsforwarrantyrepairsorreplacementsandtheamountofsuchcoststhatitwillpayandthetimeinwhichtherepairswillbemade.SouthernCrossAgMachinerywillnotapproveinvoicessentforrepairsthatSouthernCrossAgMachineryhasnotpreviouslyapproved.
6.TravelandfreightchargesassociatedwiththeprocessingoftheWarrantyClaimwillnotbecoveredbytheSouthernCrossAgMachineryWarrantyandistheresponsibilityoftheowner/purchaser.
