To Parents of BCPS MORNING Car Riders:
We appreciate your patience with our beginning of the year car rider lines. Please follow our morning car rider policies!
We want to ensure the efficiency of our line and make sure traffic can flow. Thank you!
*The Morning Car Rider Line opens at 7:15 a.m. and closes promptly at 8:00 a.m. Please do not wait until the last
moment to join our line- allow time for traffic and weather, and for students to get to breakfast!
*There is a yellow sign on the left side of the car rider line. The first car needs to pull down to this sign before unloading.
*Do not pass the vehicle in front of you. *Wait until the car in front of you leaves, you may then pull off if your child is
unloaded and safely out of the way.
* Please be prepared! Your child needs to be ready to exit the vehicle immediately. Please help them have shoes on,
book bags located, hugs, and major conversations taken care of prior to arrival at the drop off area, so that adults do not
have to exit the vehicle. Your help in this matter will greatly speed our unloading process.
*Please be courteous to our staff and other drivers and follow traffic rules. Please be understanding and patient- some
cars will unload multiple children and everyone has tough mornings!
**Early morning childcare is offered from 6:15 to 7:15 a.m. the cost is $4.00 per child. If your child is not coming to early
morning childcare, please pull over to the right side of the road. Childcare is dismissed at 7:15 and car riders may begin
unloading at this time.
To Parents of BCPS AFTERNOON Car Riders:
We appreciate your patience with our beginning of the year car rider lines. Our main goal is to get your children loaded
safely and the first few weeks that does take longer. To help our line move smoothly and swiftly, we ask that you follow
our car rider policies listed below. Thank you for understanding that we put children first!
*Afternoon Car Rider Line begins our dismissal procedures at 2:45 and closes promptly at 3:10 p.m. Please do not wait
until the last moment to join our line- allow time for traffic and weather. If your child is not picked up by 3:10 p.m.,
he/she will be taken to their teacher/ office and placed in childcare.
*Please be prepared -Have your Child’s Name Tag Decal visible each day all year. For your child’s safety, cars without a
Nametag Decal will be directed to EXIT the Car Rider Line at safe intervals and drive around to pick up their student in
the office. Two decals have been provided for families, and additional decals are available in the office for $3.00.
*As we begin loading students, a cone is placed near the yellow pole at our gates. The first car in line needs to pull up to
that cone, so we can load as many cars behind you as possible.
*Please do not encourage your child to come to you when you arrive in line. They are instructed to wait on the ramp
until ALL cars have stopped moving and they have to be dismissed by the workers at that station. This is VERY important
for their safety. (Feel free to wave! We know everyone is happy to see each other!)
*Please be courteous to our staff and other drivers and follow traffic rules. We are an example to our students!
*Please do NOT pull out of our car rider line and drive around parked cars unless you are instructed to do so by one of
our staff. Our students load from both sides of the vehicle and passing without permission is very dangerous.
