Oren Alexander Writes for The New York
Post
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 27, 2013
Oren Alexander recently wrote a piece for The New York Post [6] discussing his rise to success
and how his “dream team,” which consists of his partner and brother, Tal Alexander; his mentor
Howard Lorber, the chairman of Douglas Elliman; father and residential developer Shlomi
Alexander; photographer Evan Joseph; and architect Chad Oppenheim, makes it all possible.
“I started seeing [my father's] work at a very young age, checking out incredible construction and
architecture while my friends were doing math homework,” recalls Alexander, citing that as the
beginning of his fascination with real estate.
From that nostalgic note, Alexander goes on to describe his ever-growing interest in real estate.
Once he graduated from the University of Colorado, he moved to New York to pursue his
dreams.
Alexander reminisces about his naïve expectations when he entered the industry and the slap of
reality after the collapse of Lehman. “My first question was what my salary would be,” he
remembers, “[Howard Lorber] chuckled and informed me that real estate brokers work on
commission. I would be an independent contractor.”
And that's when things took off. He explains how difficult his first few months were and how
they turned around with his first sale – an $8.175 million penthouse at the Park Imperial at the
tender age of 21. “Everything got better from there,” he says, finally having realized the potential
of a niche market – the upper five percent.
Of his team, The Alexander Group, he says, “My team, with my brother, Tal, just cracked the
trophy market.” Now he and his “dream team” are selling homes in New York, Miami, the
Hamptons, Aspen, and Tel Aviv. His ultimate goal is to sell trophy homes worldwide.
When discussing his typical day, Alexander says an “average day is never the same.” And while
the days may vary, the nights inevitably find Oren mixing his two passions – “meeting people
and talking real estate.” One of Alexander's trademarks is his ability to network at social events,
making clients out of acquaintances.
However, according to Alexander, his true key to success is the level of trust involved in his
partnership with his brother, Tal. “Ever since we teamed up, our business has been taken to the
next level,” says Alexander.
Oren Alexander [6] and his dream team are currently working on a tropical modern house in Bal
Harbour. Designed by Chad Oppenheim, this home will be built by Shlomi Alexander, and
marketed by Oren himself. “I'm marketing it, of course, but I'm also developing it,” says Oren,
“putting up my own money. That's how much I believe in the trophy market.”
