Map Services currently available include:– Imagery

• 2002• 2006/2007• NAIP (True Color and CIR)• 2009 Preliminary (True Color and CIR)

– Geocoding• Based on RCL, Navteq, and ESRI data

• Users are required to subscribe and pay appropriate fee (if necessary)

Sanborn Online• New delivery mechanism being provided

by Sanborn• Allows users to choose and order most

recent VBMP imagery– State and Local Government (Cost of

Reproduction/Shipping)– Commercial (Full Cost Based on Current Rates)

• Functionality– Format, projection, delivery media, etc.

Applications of Base Map Imagery• Decreased emergency response time to

911 calls throughout the Commonwealth– Imagery loads into the PSAP system to assist

dispatchers in an emergency

• Established a level playing field for all local governments to experience GIS

• Supports economic development

– VGIN road centerline editing project– VGIN merges VDOT data and local government

data sets to create a single, up-to-date road centerline data layer for entire Commonwealth
