1. What is the HAZCOM Standard?

District 1199C Training Fund HWWH SH-29634-SH6

üHAZCOM is an OSHA regulation that requires employers to protect workers from the hazards of chemical products

üCovers more than 130 million workershttps://www.osha.gov/oshstats/commonstats.html

üCovers more than 8 million workplaceshttps://www.osha.gov/oshstats/commonstats.html

üSometimes called ‘Right-To-Know’ Law

What is the Globally Harmonized System (GHS)?

District 1199C Training Fund HWWH SH-29634-SH6

GHS is the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals} Groups hazardous products together into new

classifications or categories, according to the typeof hazard.

Class Discussion

District 1199C Training Fund HWWH SH-29634-SH6

} What should be included in a Hazard Communication/ Right-to-Know law that provides information to workers about hazardous chemicals?

2. Five Parts to HAZCOM
