You found yourself part of one student body ;
existing amongst 2,302 students, there was a
creeping temptation to step back and blend into
the background. However, a sense of belonging
existed once you discovered your niche; the next
thing you knew, you were working together with
peers who shared similar interests and your high
school days became meaningful. Yet, even more
crucial, you found yourself. You remembered
that while there are many students, no two are
alike . Every student had a fresh perspective to
offer, and so in this sea of bulldogs, you made
these four years unique; you made them matter.
In short: you didn't hesitate to make it your o w n .

DECA Seniors
Class of 2014
You found yourself part of one student body . Standing
out in such a massive group was a considerable
challenge, but there was a sense of belonging when
sitting amidst thousands of your peers. We were all part
of something bigger, something greater than we realized.
We had the power to cheer each other on, to make
ourselves noticed, and to inspire those within the group.
In the future we would not remember the individuals we
came to know within that same crowd, but we would
always remember the force that erupted when the mass
cheered as a whole and what our unity represented. High
school moments would fade into a blur, but we would
never forget our hometown and where we came from. We
were the Bulldogs, and we made it our own.

The Brownsburg student section is known for their energy and zeal at
every Friday night varsity football game. The opening game against
McCutcheon centered around a toga theme and the students donned
creatively accessorized white bed sheets. The first game was a win for the
team and brought with it an overwhelming excitement for the season ahead.

The next thing you knew, you were working together
with peers who shared similar interests and your high
school days became meaningful. Interaction is crucial for
success in such a diverse environment. Sometimes the
best lessons come from observing others and learning to
work with peers. In class students must assemble into
groups and help each other; during sports or club events,
teammates and members develop friendships. Perhaps
the most important aspect of collaboration exists between
faculty and students, who both understand the role that
each plays. Staff must prepare young kids for a bright
future, and students must learn the skills that are
necessary to succeed. Together, we made ourselves
known.

Groups 40-41
During their August in-school field trip, members of CHAIN Link were able to work on projects
for the upcoming school year. The student government organization elects leaders from each
grade level to help organize school activities and promote leadership within the student body.
Donnie Spencer '14 and Abbey Richey '14 worked on the t-shirt design for the upcoming Riley
Hospital fundraiser and varsity football game. The t-shirts were sold for $10 per student at lunches
and comprised a large portion of the donations that were made to the local children's hospital.

Young, but Mighty With the girls’ Varsity team made up of a
strong core of sophomores alongside one
junior and one freshman, the inexperience in
the playing field was something they would
have to overcome to achieve a successful
season. In years past the team had faced
strong competitors, and this year was no
different. When asked about the competition
Andrea Wesson '16 said, “It is not all about
winning or losing to an opponent, it is you
playing against the course and your past
scores.” But each individual had her own
obstacles to face throughout the season. Like
everyone else, Maddie Cody '16 had hers,
“The biggest obstacle I faced during golf this
season was taking on the role as number one
from the seniors who graduated last year. It
was a big chance and came with a lot of
responsibility.” While Maddie had been busy
having a great second year for her high school
career, Lasserina Dowell '15 had wrapped
hers up. “Standing on the sidelines was
something I've never enjoyed. But after
suffering a reoccurring nerve injury at the
beginning of the season, it was something I
had to learn to do. By the end of the year, I
could not be prouder of any of these girls. I
enjoyed watching all of them make
improvements throughout the season. But
1. Lining up the putt can be the difference between a par and a bogey. Bailey Lotz '16 had a routine to follow all season she said, “First I line up my ball with the hole, set my stance, then clear my mind.” 2. As the ball rolls onto the green Reilly Olmstead '17 can see her practice paying off. Reilly said,“I improved around the green a lot this season. I learned its more touch than anything else.”

where it all began...
“I just started my eighth grade year and I don't
really have a good story of how I started to play.
But i just kept on playing.” .
Brittany Dial '17
“Well, it wasn't my choice. My eighth grade year,
the golf coach e-mailed me and said that they
didn't have enough girls to make a team , so he
was relying on me to keep the team going. He
basically guilt tripped me into playing... but a few
years later I'm still playing. So i guess it wasn't all
that bad. “
Lasserina Dowell '15
“My grandpa signed me up for lessons. I always
completely hated it at first because I had to get up
earlier than deemed strictly humanly necessary for
a 6-year old but I forgave it every time and as soon
as my club came in contact with the ball I loved it
all over again”
Emma Wilkins '16
“When I was first introduced to the idea of golf I
didn't like it but when I got myself out there and
tried it, I loved it.. Every year I love golf more and
more. I can't wait to see how my golf career
blossoms.”
Maddy Koester '16

mostly, how hard I laughed during practices or
on the way home from matches. All of the
memories I made with everyone is what I'll
remember the most for the years to come. ”
With the team captain sitting out and taking
the role as the assistant coach, the rest of the
team continued to improve and compete.
Sophia Topi '16 commented on her
improvement throughout the season, “To look
up at the scoreboard and see a score that
was ten, fifteen, twenty strokes under what it
had been last year: that made me feel like all
the hard work I'd put in were worth it.” Similar
to Sophia, Corrine Lucas '17 said, “I
improved a lot this season. I was really sad
when the season was over. I think if i had kept
playing every day I would have kept on
improving more and more.” This year's
sectionals were held at the girl's home course,
West Chase. Although Avon walked away with
the victory, Brownsburg came in a close
second with the aid of Maddie Cody winning
the title of Sectional Medalist. The girls had an
overall winning season, but it is not just about
the numbers they put up on the board. It was
the experience and knowledge the girls
obtained that will allow them to achieve
greatness in the following years.
